Topic: Embarrassed (07/19/07)
I met my older sister for the first time when I was twenty years old and I was overcome with emotions. You see, throughout my childhood my parents would mention her to me, but because of the choices that our parents had made, our paths did not cross until I was eighteen years old.

When I was eighteen years old, my sister, who was living in another country, reached out to me and we bonded instantly. Nevertheless, it took about two years before we were able to meet each other face to face.

I can still remember the first time I saw a photograph of her and at that time I could not close my mouth for several seconds. I was sitting in front of my computer looking at the pictures she had scanned onto a CD. As I looked at her picture, I thought that I was looking at myself. We had only one parent in common and that was our dad and we were also three years of age apart and I could not believe how similar we looked.

So the day finally arrived when I was to pick her up at the airport, but for some unknown reason at the time, I had an upset stomach. My mom volunteered to go to the airport, but I would not hear of it. I had waited for a long time to see her face to face and I was not going to wait any longer. So I made my way to the airport and was just in time to hear the announcing of the arrival of the plane that she was travelling on.

I made my way to the arrival check out point and I stood there, unable to contain my excitement, while praying that the Lord would keep my stomach calm. I was not there for very long when I saw her scanning the crown as she walked. I met her half way and our tears overcame us both, as we hugged each other. When we were finally able to compose ourselves, she introduced me to her younger brother who was travelling with her and he was a bit airsick.

Her brother was a bit taller than I was so I was prepared to stand on my toes to give him a hug and so I did. However, as we were parting his body made an unusual motion and, before I knew it the front of my black shirt was covered with unwanted food. As I looked down at the front of my shirt I could not control my body and in return I added my own food to the front of my shirt.

As I recall that bitter sweet meeting, the embarrassment that I felt at that moment has long been replaced with laughter.

Definitely embarrassing! A sweet story. A couple typos, I wanted a few more details, but nicely done just the same!
