My pants go on quickly and I deftly fasten my Suspenders of Truth. Without this basic, if hidden element, my entire purpose would be shaken by the horrors I know I will see in the coming hours.
I throw on my Jacket of Righteousness, aware that without it my bare soul will be exposed to the deadly flames of Doubt and Incredulity. I must know my Cause and be secure in it or I will be weak and susceptible to the Fiery questions.
As I run for the door I hop on alternating feet, tugging on my Boots of Readiness. These prepare me for the inevitable debris that will attempt to trip me, cause me to stumble in my resolve. But I am ready and with a jolt of new-found peace, I race with my comrades to our truck.
As we drive, I fasten on my Extinguisher of Faith. Manufactured for me by our Chief, I have every confidence that I can and will prevail against the Flames that would consume me. They will come at me from every angle but I am not without Protection.
Swinging around a corner, we see the first glimpses of the Enemy, licking the reddened, smoky sky with orange tongues of malicious intent. I slip on my Mask of Salvation. Without this I would be as susceptible to the Smoky Inhibitions and Noxious Sins as the poor souls who are trapped in the ravenous clutches of our Enemy. Life-Giving breath courses through my lungs as I leap from the truck.
Last of all, as I begin sprinting towards the Enemy, I grab up my Axe of the Spirit. The infinite truth of its words will cut through any defensive lies erected by the Enemy and will allow us to reach the Lost and guide them out of the Enemy’s clutches and towards their own Salvation.
No one ever said this would be easy. But it is why I was created. With an undying prayer coursing through my brain, sparking my every movement, and with a Warrior’s yell, I rush onwards fully equipped to meet the Enemy in battle.
“For the Glory of God!”
