FaithWriters.com news and information for the Write-brained Christian!
"Words satisfy the soul as food satisfies the stomach; the right words on a person's lips bring satisfaction." Proverbs 18:20 (NLT)
The written word, like the spoken word, is powerful and has the potential to touch hearts and influence people - in good ways and bad. With our writing gifts and talents comes great responsibility. This month, let's be more aware of the words we are "speaking" into people's lives. Why not use those writing skills to send a note of cheer today to someone whose spirit may need a lift? You never know what a difference it could make in their life.
At the end of this newsletter, read what a few of our FaithWriters members have to say about the things that cheer them up.
Speaking of cheer, here's something to applaud: FaithWriters.com has recently launched a sister site, FAITHREADERS.COM http://www.faithreaders.com/! As the name suggests, instead of focusing on Christian writers, FaithReaders is geared toward - you guessed it - the reader. And, like FaithWriters, membership is absolutely free!
All articles, poems, and stories posted on the site are written by FaithWriters members. If you would like to have your work posted on FaithReaders, available to be read and possibly used on various online sites and / or church bulletins or newsletters, be sure and visit the FREE REPRINT section of FaithWriters.com and submit your work, which will then be automatically transferred to the FaithReaders site.
At FaithReaders.com, users can browse articles, leave comments, track favorite writers, even start their own library! Most importantly, they will have access to thousands of FAMILY FRIENDLY articles, stories and poems that will encourage, uplift and strengthen their Christian faith.
Oh - and when you visit, make sure you check out the new Featured Author section where, every couple of weeks, a FaithWriters member will be featured. The "kick off," member was our very own Deborah Porter. Stop in to read this in-depth interview (it may by now be listed in the Interview Archives). You will be blessed by this lovely lady as she opens her heart and shares what God is doing in her life.
Check it out and sign up for your FREE membership today: http://www.faithreaders.com/ and please tell all of your friends about FaithReaders.com. It is for everybody!
MORE BREAKING NEWS…
God's hand has been on FaithWriters from the very beginning and the favor continues to this day! FaithWriters has recently exceeded its goal set in 2004 of 500 paying members. Throughout these last couple of years, while waiting patiently for that number to grow and eventually hit 500, FaithWriters has provided many new services for members -things that would have been very easy to say, "We'll do that after we hit our goal."
But we truly felt God was asking us to step out in faith and kept building a better FaithWriters. God has honored that and we are humbled and so thankful that He has blessed us because of it. If you are an original FaithWriters 500 member, THANK YOU - without you, FaithWriters would not exist or be the extraordinary Christian Writing Ministry that it is.
BUT WE ARE NOT THROUGH YET!
This is just the beginning. New goals are necessary for continued growth and goals cannot be met if they are not set. Our next goal is 1,000 paying members. Our desire is to consistently add new and exciting features to FaithWriters.com and bring fabulous benefits to our members! Now, every additional person who signs on helps to make that possible.
Please be in prayer with us that the number continues to grow at a steady pace. We also ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with us by joining the 500+. And may God continue to bless you for your generosity and faithfulness.

FROM THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS
In keeping with the monthly theme of CHEER, a few select FaithWriters were asked this question:
When you are feeling down, what cheers you up?
Here's what they had to say:
"Wow, I can think of a lot of things that cheer me up: getting an encouraging comment on my writing from a fellow FaithWriter is near the top of the list. Curling up on the couch with a good book or movie is pretty nice, too. Music can usually get me feeling good, especially an upbeat worship song or the sound track to "Fiddler on the Roof" (my mom's favorite movie, so lots of good family memories connected to it). An understanding hug from a friend (literal or cyber hug) does wonders. One of the most cheering things, of course, is getting published, whoo hoo!" - Amy Michelle Wiley, founder of Peculiar People and writer's conference coordinator.
"My wife, Anna, is my number one encourager. She has a wonderful ability to see the positive side of most everything without totally going overboard on it. She notices little things that I overlook. I may not bother to stop and smell the roses, but Anna will - and she'll drag me along with her. Anna does an awesome job of cheering me up when I'm down." - James Clem, drama director, and hobby writer.
"After indulging in (hopefully just a little) self-pity, I try to change my focus from inward to outward. Remembering what Jesus did for me, how blessed I am, and all I still want to do for Him changes my perspective from temporal to eternal and that makes all the difference." - Lori Othouse, FW 500 member, poet, and church drama writer.
Til next month, let your cheer overflow to those around you. Send an encouraging note. Call a friend just to say hello. Smile. And, mostly, tell someone the good news of the gospel. Bringing someone to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ - now that would be something to cheer about!
