FaithWriters.com news and information for the write-brained Christian!
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." – Psalm 19:1
There is nothing quite like autumn, is there? The colors of the leaves are so vivid, so magnificent, that simply driving down a tree-lined street, especially on a day when the sun is shining, is enough to bring tears to your eyes and take your breath away.
How could anyone not believe there's a God?
There are countless glorious aspects of nature. From lush green valleys to snow-topped mountains, to turquoise oceans and gorgeous sunsets. Even a powerful storm, despite the devastation it may cause, is beautiful in and of itself. What an awesome God we serve!
No matter what season you're in (both literally and figuratively), look for the beauty that surrounds you. You won't have to look very far.
Be sure to read the Out of the Mouths of FaithWriters section at the end of this newsletter, where members share the aspects of nature that take their breath away.
PAGE TURNER CONTEST
If you are a Platinum 500 member, you know all about the annual Page Turner contest. This "first chapter" contest was created specifically for FaithWriters 500 members and is now in its 4th year. Because the deadline to enter is October 31st, there is still plenty of time to upgrade your FaithWriters membership in order to be eligible for this contest. Here are the details:
The Page Turner alternates yearly between fiction and non-fiction and this year, the focus is on NON-FICTION. Members are to submit the first chapter of their non-fiction book. The book does not need to be complete, but keep in mind that one of the prizes is free editing on the entire manuscript, so it is in your best interest to finish it.
Your book can be about any topic. The only guideline is that it must be presented from a Christian world-view and suitable for a Christian audience.
Entries will be judged on page-turning and publishing potential, so be sure and make that first chapter shine!
Ready for the fantastic prize package?
*Free editing of your manuscript (up to 300 pages)
*A fabulous cash prize that could (but is not required to) be used toward the cost of self-publishing your finished book
*Free publicity and marketing of your book on all FaithWriters' sites (including FaithWriters' Magazine) for 12 months once it is published
*A press release to announce your win to the world
*A press release to promote your book when it is published
*A special "Page Turner Champion" award plaque.
So what are you waiting for? First upgrade your membership here: http://www.faithwriters.com/fw-500-more.php, then polish your entry, sign in to your FaithWriters account and submit your entry using the online entry form.

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS
Confession: I goofed last month and included the wrong email address. I reposted the question with the correct email address on the FaithWriters blog and got a few responses, which are posted below. So sorry for the error. If you tried to send a response and it bounced back to you, thanks for trying!
This month's question was:
WHAT ASPECT OF NATURE TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY? (ie: sunset, etc.)
"I once got to visit Niagara Falls from the Canadian side. It was absolutely stunning! I literally stood there in awe. My thoughts? How could anyone look at something this amazing and still deny the existence of God?" - Kristi Peifer
"The expanse of God's universe - as seen from a mountain overlook, cliff-side at an ocean, the night sky out on a wilderness camping trip, or the start of a long, straight, dessert road stretching to the horizon." – Julie Buter
"Clouds take my breath away. I can picture Jesus stepping up on a magnificent heavenly platform, complete with altar, and calling for His bride." – Nancy Sullivan
"The aspect of nature that takes my breath away is caverns. They are God's awesome underground palaces, exquisitely carved by water." - Holly Westefeld
Considering the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, here is the November question:
WHAT ARE YOU MOST THANKFUL FOR THIS YEAR?
Submit your 1-2 sentence answer to Faithwriters.firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to check the November newsletter to see if your response was selected to appear.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR CHOOSING FAITHWRITERS.COM! PRAYERS FOR A WONDERFUL AND BLESSED OCTOBER!
