FaithWriters.com news and information for the Write-brained Christian!
"'Honor your father and mother'-which is the first commandment with a promise-that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." Ephesians 6:2, 3 (NIV)
I want to live a long life on this earth, don't you? The Bible tells us one way we can make that happen-by honoring our parents!
So last month we celebrated our mothers. I hope all of you mom's out there had a marvelous and relaxing day, with no cooking or cleaning involved. You totally deserved it!
But now it's all about DAD!
Just a note of encouragement to those of you who may not have an earthly father in your life. You have a heavenly Father who adores you and wants to be your Daddy. Give Him your heart and let him fill that fatherly role. He would love nothing more!
Stick around at the end of this newsletter to see what messages some of our very own FaithWriters want to send to their dad's this Father's Day.
FAITHWRITERS CONFERENCE UPDATE
I have some exciting news! The FaithWriters conference WILL go on, as planned! However, there have been some changes, due to fewer registrants than expected. Please read the following information carefully, or check the Conference Page for the updated schedule.
The DATE remains the same. The conference will be held on August 10-12 in Livonia, Michigan. Likewise, the LOCATION HAS NOT CHANGED, but the name of the hotel has. What used to be the Holiday Inn is now the Radisson. Same hotel, different name.
The biggest change to the conference is the format. Friday and Sunday will be more informal and all day Saturday will be devoted to the conference itself. The best part is now you don't have to choose which workshops to attend. You get to attend them all! Sally Stuart will still be our featured speaker. You won't want to miss what she has to say. It could make a huge difference in your writing career!
Here's a brief rundown:
Friday - 4:00 Set-up, volunteer meeting, registration. An informal dinner gathering will follow. Dinner location to be announced.
Saturday - 8:30 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. - ENTIRE CONFERENCE - Featured speakers and workshops. Get ready for a full and exciting day!
Sunday - Informal day of sightseeing and fellowship.
Because of the reformat, unfortunately the talent show and the morning worship time has been cancelled. But since the Sunday sightseeing isn't scheduled until the afternoon, there will be plenty of time to attend a local church service if you so choose.
It's NOT TOO LATE to register for the FaithWriter's Conference! We would love, love, love to have you join us. Come and meet your FaithWriters friends. Learn a thing or two or twenty about writing and improve your God-given skill. Experience the joy of the Lord alongside wonderful people who have the same interests you do. It's practically guaranteed you will leave refreshed, renewed, with a deeper desire to take your gift of writing to a new level.

FROM THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS:
As promised, this month's question pertains to fathers as we celebrate Dad's special day. We asked a few select FaithWriters members this question:
If you were to create a card for your father, what would you say?
"You've taught me...you've encouraged me…you've loved me. "Thank you" just isn't enough." - Rachel Burkum, FaithWriters member and published author of, At the Heart of Truth and A Test of Courage
"You've always been there for me-especially when I held my hand out for money. Thanks." - Rhonda Clark, wife, mom, and Christian romance writer
"Thank you, Dad, for everything...from playing my favorite games with me when I was younger (even the ones Mom thought were too 'rough'--haha), to warning me about the ways of the world, to always being there with Mom to support and guide me however you could. Thanks, and I love you!" - Caitlynn Lowe, FaithWriters member and college student
Until next month, give your dad (or any dad) a heartfelt, "thank you," for all they do. No matter how tough they may try to be, a word of encouragement or praise can break barriers and melt hearts. Give Dad the appreciation he deserves.
Thanks for making FaithWriters what it is - THE HOME for Christian Writers. God bless you as you keep writing for the Kingdom!
