Much of the answer to this question has to do with your answer to the individual's interest in using the material. For instance the person contacting you may be in charge of producing a newsletter for a church and they have no budget from which to draw for the financial purchase of an article. They may be more than willing to publish your work, but may not be able to provide a financial reward for the privilege. Is that OK with you? If you posted the article in the 'free to use' section than you have already agreed to allow the piece to be used without payment. If, however, you have placed it in the 'For Sale" section then you should determine a price for the use of the material. You should also be very clear about what rights you are willing to forfeit.
