As I read the account of Christmas,
The lights of Christmas caught my eye;
The light of the messenger angel,
That lit up that Christmas sky!
The light of the angels that joined him,
As their praise rang over the earth,
The awe of the many shepherds
The first, to hear of Christ’s birth!
The special star God had Given,
To lead the shepherds to Him,
Shone in spender in the sky,
Over the manger, near the inn.
The light that must have brightly shone
In Joseph and Mary’s loving eye;
The wonder that they must have felt,
When told of the message from the sky!
The wise men came much later,
Who were called to travel so far
They found the small child, Jesus,
Still living, beneath God’s star.
And, as I followed His short story,
(The only true light of the world),
In mind’s eye, I was there
As Satan’s many darts were hurled.
I cried inside at the darkness of man,
And then, the deep darkness again,
When Jesus gave up His very life,
To save this dark world from sin!
Then, the light of God’s precious Word
Pierced deeply through my very soul
It was then, through deep repentance,
Jesus forgave, and made me whole!
