This is a poem I'm writing for our son and his wife. I have a couple of ideas about changes that may be needed, but thought I'd throw it out to you to get some feedback.
Your wedding day was bright with love
while Heaven's smiles shone from above,
and friends and family all drew near
to celebrate your day so dear.
Christ's church expanded with the song
that ushered in the time so long
awaited by your loving hearts,
the time your life as one would start.
In solemn, sacred holy vows
you bound tomorrow with hope endowed.
You gazed into each other's eyes
and promised to cherish and sacrifice,
to hold each other in sickness and health,
faithfully striving in want or wealth.
With a kiss and a blessing you two became one.
Then with ribbons and wrapping
your friends joined in fun.
What joy! Celebration! as gulf breezes blew
like air angels mingling to brush wings with two
who dancing together stepped into a life
where holding each other as husband and wife
would give strength and courage to face every test.
Now dance every day, and know you are blessed!
And just as you tossed your wedding bouquet,
you're now tossing blessings along your way.
A dearer couple could never be.
We wish you a Happy Anniversary!
