Alone and in pain the child wept,
Silently so no one would hear,
In the darkness where all secrets were kept,
Alone with no one near.
No one would come because no one cared,
No one to hug and make things better,
In this house anger and hate was all that was shared,
Hurt and bitterness was all that mattered.
The child grew bitter pierced to the very core,
The heart was wrenched and broken to bits,
Nothing mattered anymore.
Not even the death of the spirit.
It took many years for the child to know,
There was someone there in the darkness and pain,
Someone who loves us even though,
We are broken, and He makes us whole
