He met the woman at the well
And told her that he knew so well
Her life's whole history.
She looked at Him in disbelief
As He related to her ears
"The water in this well will meet
A person's needs-it's cool
To those who thirst.
But thirst returns, and wells run dry."
He told her with a gentle sigh-
"Come to Me first.
For those who drink that which I give
Will have a spring from which to live-
So heed My call.
This living spring is never dry;
It runs unto eternity;
It's free to all.
It leads to everlasting life,
Beyond all earthly cares and strife-
It's just for you.
It comes to you from up above-
Because, My dear child,
I am love-and I love you."
