(Thanks to CJ Campbell for his suggestion on the first verse. I may come back and improve this more)
Update: I wanted this to sound like a patriotic song with a lot of feeling in it.
(spoken) Corrupt government...
Secular media...
Godless education...
Disgusting entertainment...
Self-centeredness...
Materialism...
Wordly, hypocritical Christians
How did we fall so far?
(music starts)
1. I lift up my eyes to see
a grand banner waving overhead
Old Glory, that’s what she's called,
with stars, blue, white, and red
Can’t help but think that we’ve forgotten
Who made us what we are
It’s time for a little reminder
Let it ring out near and far!
(chorus 1) God blessed Amer-i-ca
Land that I lo-ove
God blessed Amer-i-ca
With more than we're worthy of
God save Amer-i-ca
Raise your torch of salvation
God save Amer-i-ca
And awake the heart of our nation
2. Now morality bleeds to death
Sin and pride are unsurpassed
Are we Ninevah or Sodom and Gomorrah?
Have we learned nothing from the past?
I can't sit here while it all unravels
200 years is too young to die
We've gotta fall on our knees and live by the Book
Awaken us again, Lord, let us all cry
(chorus 2) God blessed Amer-i-ca
On thee He shed His grace
God blessed Amer-i-ca
And in return spit in His face
God save Amer-i-ca
A shining city on a hill
God save Amer-i-ca
And lead her to your will
3. Land of the free (pause/echo) because of the brave (pause/echo)
From sea to shining sea (pause/echo) from the cradle to the grave (pause/echo)
You and I created equal (pause/echo) united we stand (pause/echo)
In God we trust (pause/echo) proclaim it across the land (pause/echo)
Let's sign a declaration of dependence... on Providence
(chorus 1 with lots of heart)
God save Amer-i-ca-a (x4)
God save Amer-i-ca-a (x4)
America wor-ship God
