She walked the halls
With the latest fashions on her back
With a smile plastered on her face
No one ever knew it was a mask
She seemed to have her life
With the pieces all in place
But in her heart the pain just grew
And she held her tears at bay
And her heart cried out
They call me names, You call me beautiful
They tear me down, knock me around
You pick me right back up
They push me away, You hold me tight
And wrap Your loving arms around me
And I feel safe and loved
and You fill all that I’ve been longing for
She went on with her life
Feeling lost and all alone
She believed the lies that she’d been told
And was ready to give up her hope
But then God reached down His hand
And He wiped her tears away
He spoke the truth on her mending heart
And the chains were torn away
And she was free at last
They call her names, You call her beautiful
They tear her down, knock her around
You pick her right back up
They push her away, You hold her tight
And wrap Your loving arms around her
They called me names, You called me beautiful
They tore me down, knocked me around
You picked me right back up
They pushed me away, You held me tight
And wrapped Your loving arms around me
And I felt safe and loved
and You filled all that I’d been longing for
I longed for You
