According to www.holidayinsights.com, today is National Doughnut Day (always the first Friday in June). What a fun (if fattening) holiday to celebrate!
So in honor of this sweet day, let me tempt you with a tantalizing challenge (and no, it’s not to see how many apple fritters you can eat).
Haiku, sentimental, rhyming, or funny…pen a poem about your favorite doughnut. Long john… powdered sugar…chocolate or Glazed…which kind of doughnut gets your highest praise?
Can’t wait to read your poems!

I’ve seen these challenges…how do we submit? Just here on comments? Color me confused. That’s not unusual though.
Won’t eat that donut,
Though temptation comes my way!
Oh no… that’s chocolate!
When donuts hit my plate,
It’s not hard to contemplate
Which donut I will choose.
It’s the one with lemon ooze.
Can’t resist that tangy bite
When lemon hits the spot just right.
So have your chocolate and creamy-filled.
Give me the ones with lemon drilled.
Maple french crullers
Never get past my vision
Without a mouth trip
(LOL Lousy last image – but it’s what I mean!)
Chocolate topped doughnut
That sweet barvarian cream!
Come seduce my lips!
Doughnut
(Lyrics of a song from the movie The Sound of Pastry)
Dough, a smear, a glazed top tier
Cake, a hole in center fun
Me, I can’t control myself
I choose the lemon centered one
Goo, in middle of the bread
Nuts, on top the frosting head
With these, the pounds I will not shed
Which will bring us back to Dough (oh-oh-oh)
LoL, Kim…this challenge is just for fun. The FaithWriters Weekly Writing Challenges are probably what you’re referring to. You can find all the information for that HERE.
Have fun!
