Did you know that today is Swap Ideas Day?
It’s true! At least, according to www.HolidayInsights.com.
So I was thinking this is actually a pretty cool thing to celebrate. As writers, we certainly don’t want to swap our writing ideas. In fact, many writers don’t even talk about their ideas for fear that someone will steal it.
But here is the description of what Swapping Ideas Day is all about: encourages us to share and trade ideas and concepts. As you fully participate in this day, we think you will get plenty of good ideas to put to use in your everyday life. Some will be so good, that you will want to pass them along, (or swap them) to others.
Pretty cool, right?
So I thought for Free-for-All-Friday we could swap ideas on how to be a more productive writer. What tricks and tips have you found helpful in your writing journey? Have you received a profound piece of advice that really works? What words of wisdom about writing do you have to swap today?

Good morning,
I find that I get most of my writing inspiration from the Holy Spirit. When I’m reading or listening to preaching, ideas will pop into my mind of an expanded or different view of a topic. Sometimes, I’ll get a internal clue that a scripture I’m reading has something more I’ve missed and if I read it again and ask for an explanation, God shows me the greater view.
Good morning,
This is my first time on the blog. How great! Oh, the advice. I get much of my inspiration from my own life experiences. Who knew that all those rough hills the Lord has us go over would be useful some day!Whenever you can draw on your experience it gives your work a uniqueness that another writer can’t capture. You lend the “real” to your fiction. Your readers will think you are reading their minds!
OK – don’t wait until you have “time” to write. Don’t be afraid to have a notebook with you and write for those few minutes you have while you’re waiting for whatever. It’s AMAZING how much you get done.
Just completed compiling a book of “Musings of Mama” for each of my children for Christmas. Just some memories of the past and some articles I had written for them to share when Mama is “gone”. In no way a biography or memoirs…just “blasts from the past” mostly. You might enjoy doing the same for your family.
