Fishing is a great summer activity-slash-sport. I used to love fishing with my dad. Totally didn’t mind baiting the hook but I’ll admit, I let my dad remove the fish I caught. Something about the flapping around really freaked me out.
Do you have a fishy tale? I hope so, because this week I am challenging you to write a brief account of a time you went fishing. Was it a good experience? Did you hate it? Were you bored as you sat for hours without a bite? Did “the big one” get away or did you have a huge fish fry that night because of the loads of fish you caught?
In 200 words or less, give us your most fishiest fish tale.
Put on your fishing hat and tackle it!

My husband and I went on a “free” fishing trip one crisp fall with some friends. Nora had won a three nights stay at a fishing lodge on Dead Lake in Minnesota. Our cost for this “free” trip (for the gas, food, fishing license and boat rental) came to $127.83. Eating bluegill with friends, priceless. (All we were able to catch was a few bluegill…Dead Lake lived up to its name cuz’ it really was dead.) However, one morning at 2:00 a.m., we sat on the dock and were treated to an incredible light show compliments of the Northern Lights.
I loved going fishing when I was young, also. However you can’t catch much of a variety in the river where we swam, especially with a homemade pole, string on the end, and baited with a safety pin and a scriggly worm! But, fun!!
Later on, when I started going camping with my husband and children, I would sit in the bow and read while they had all the fun. I did that till the kids were grown – finally I decided to get a license and fish! My first attempt landed the limit of square tail trout – Believe me, the heavenly aroma of those beautiful trout with their dark orange meat frying with strips of bacon in a black iron skillet just as the setting sun was casting its warm glow over all, hooked me for good!!
