Could it be any more perfect that the three Best of the Best winners are announced today on the Thursday Three? I don’t think so!
Over the past twelve months, there have been forty Writing Challenge topics and a whopping total of 4,500 entries! The top ten winners from each week are going on to be published in the FaithWriters quarterly anthologies. (The anthologies are currently on hold as we’re changing the publisher who handles these books, but we hope to get them going again soon).
Placing first in the Weekly Writing Challenge is quite an achievement. Each June, the 40 #1 entries are judged and rated in several predetermined categories. The top score takes home the Best of the Best title and the top three entries receive a nice cash prize.
This year, competition was especially fierce. FYI – the entries that scored 4th, 5th, and 6th all scored equally, making this an incredibly close contest. The level of talent in the FaithWriters Challenge is amazing. If you were one of those who placed in the top 10 any time this past year, give yourself a pat on the back! Thank you to everyone who participated!
Now, I am thrilled to announce the top three winners of the 2010 Best of the Best (BOB) contest.
First, the two runners up…
Second Place: MONA PURVIS for her entry, OH! Heaven Leigh Day!! (Topic: OW!) – Prize – $100
Third Place: SHERI GORDON for her entry, Ruined (Topic: Oops). Prize – $75
And finally, the winner of this year’s BEST OF THE BEST, taking home a great cash prize of $300 and the privilege of wearing the BOB crown for the year is…
ANN GROVER for her entry, No Man’s Land (Topic: The Writer’s Challenge).
CONGRATULATIONS TO ANN, MONA, AND SHERI for their exceptional talent!
Be sure to watch for a special interview with Ann, coming soon.
