Remembering the Sacrifice for Freedom

FaithWriters encourages you to remember those who lost their lives while fighting for our country. We also extend our sympathies to the families and friends who loved them.

Also, if you know anyone currently serving in the military, be sure to thank them today for dedicating their lives to defending our freedom.

Honoring a few of the FaithWriters members who are or were members of the armed service:

Top 10 Songs for Writers

I’ll admit it; I’m an American Idol fan. Something about the average Joe and Jane realizing their dream makes me tune in every week. That, and the auditions are pretty funny, too.

So, in honor of American Idol wrapping up another season (Congratulations, Lee!), I’ve decided to post this list of 10 songs for writers. Feel free to browse your CD cases or search your memory’s song title bank and add a few more to the list.

Oh, and because [...]

Writing for Magazines 101

It’s the fourth Thursday of the month and you know what that means! We take a break from the Thursday Three so we can learn more about this business of writing. Today, I am posting an article on magazine writing by Tracy Ruckman. Tracy is a FaithWriters member and a successful freelance writer, editor, and author. This isn’t a new article (it’s from 2008), but the advice is timeless and contains links to some helpful resources. If you’ve always [...]

Fun Friday Meme

Today I’m doing a Fun Friday Meme for all of you writers out there. Basically, I’ll answer a few questions about my own writing. Then you are encouraged to take a moment to copy and paste these questions onto your own blog and answer them, yourself. Leave a message here when you’ve done it so I can hop on over and check it out. Let’s get to know each other a bit.

What three books have you recently read?

My to-be-read pile is growing every day. Seriously, if I stacked all of the books I have on my shelf that I haven’t yet read (but am dying to), they would probably reach the ceiling (and I have a cathedral ceiling). I try to always have one or two books going at any given time.

What about you? Are you an avid reader? If you’re a writer, chances are the answer is a resounding YES! And if you answered [...]

Private Message Systems on FaithWriters.com

There are two systems of Private Messages (PMs) on FaithWriters. PrivateĀ  Messages are a great way for members to contact one another without sending actual emails. Some members have trouble discerning the difference between these two messaging systems, so I’ll try to explain it here.

On the regular FW site, you must pay a small fee to access your PMs. Once you sign up, either by paying a yearly or monthly fee, you may send as many [...]
