Something a little different today…
If you don’t write poetry, consider this an opportunity to stretch your wings a bit. OR, seize the chance to just have fun.
In 50 words, write a poem about hot dogs.
If the poetry thing goes over well, we may incorporate it bi-weekly into Tackle it Tuesday.

Hot dogs…..
Steamy & American
Filling and good
good condiments …
taste like they should.
plump and perfect
such a treat
…don’t need chips, nor anything sweet!
workout in the water,
sizzle on the grill…
eaten before
the bun gets its fill
to the movies?
cheering at the game?
incomplete
without …event not the same.
Whether a pauper…,
high on the hog…
life needs
a good hot dog!
Nice!! LoL
Hot dogs, hot dogs,
Oh what fun,
With mustard and relish on a bun.
Backyard picnic,
Or baseball game…
Venue may change,
But the fun’s the same.
Inside table,
Or outside air…
I’ll eat hot dogs anywhere.
I’ll take two dogs…
How ’bout you?
Eating dogs is fun to do.
At church on a Sunday,
The preaching was great.
Then came our camp-out,
It’s there where we ate …
Hotdogs and ketchup –
They were charred, on a bun;
Mustard and relish,
Thrown on for fun.
S’mores at the campfire,
Marshmallows too,
Songs praising Jesus,
“He loves me and you!”
Hot Dog, oh Hot Dog
May you never change
No matter what is in you
No matter what your name
You shall always be my favorite
Whether you’re kosher or not
Eaten straight from the package
Or eaten steaming hot
Hot Dog, oh Hot Dog
You, I’ve always got
I have never tried my hand at poetry, but I gave this a whirl with a hot dog haiku.
A warm spring evening
A most satisfying thought
A juicy hot dog!
“Yes!” said the children
The stick-in-the-mud said “No.”
Guess who won this one
Coney Island’s best
With condiments to dress it
This dog finished first
Hot dogs, hot dogs
Greasy, greasy
Satisfying taste buds
Easy, easy
Some plump, filled with fat
Others just filled, imagine that
Sizzled and rolled above the heat
Why is there a dog at my feet?
Shoo, go on your way
This dog is mine that’s all I have to say
Leftovers from a cow
Stuffed between a bun
Sometimes from a sow,
Doesn’t seem like fun.
Give me a steak
Or a piece of ham
Even a clambake
Maybe a leg of lamb.
I guess hot dogs can be okay
If made the right way!
Hot dog, oh, hot dog
you are an item in my frig.
Hot dog on a bun
Hot dog with egg…
My baby boy’s favorite.
Mustard, and ketchup
relish and chili too
There is no end to you,
hot dog…you are “In”!
There’s one in my home
who doesn’t take kindly to you.
My princess baby girl
won’t have a taste, glimpse,
or even a wiff.
But don’t dismay, hot dog
You are a popular here,
you see.
An item on my table
with many smiles
and cheers.
I’m a little hotdog,
cold and bare.
Please cook me up;
give me something to wear!
Katchup, mustard, pickles.
Onions for my crown.
Just dress me up,
and eat me down!
Thanks for the laughs. You guys are so creative!
A Haiku for Hot Dogs:
Hot dogs full of fun
dress them up and fill with taste
