More intakes and fewer workouts cause obesity. Obesity leads to disfiguration from the expected healthy personality.
Even though obesity is universally unacceptable, often it is also unavoidable. Many become precautious by dieting; however a good and regular workout would be the best solution.
Our spiritual problems are much important than physical, for where the physical problems may lead to the illness of the body and mortality of the clay which envelops us, our spiritual problems may have a much greater impact, we will suffer , and we will suffer all through eternity.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, James, the brother of Jesus tried to warn us of what I would call Spiritual Obesity...
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
James 1:22 (New Kings James version)
We often hear from the Word of the Lord, in our prayer cells, church, Bible study's and special meetings, the intake is varied and much, however how much do we practice? How much really can be seen in our day to day life?
Would God look unto us and say 'She/he is filled with My Word, however nothing in practice'?
Jesus once said about a group of people who claimed to be learned and teachers (the Pharisees)..
"Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do."
Matthew 23:3 (New Kings James version)
The Pharisees were good preachers; however their very lives were far away from what they preached.
I am asking you to introspect and measure your spiritual health and in this process my question to you is, "Do you practice what you hear?", "Do people see the change in your lives?", "Are you able to influence someone towards Christ?", and to sum it all "Is your life fruitful?".
Jesus once, when He was very hungry went to a fig tree that was full of leaves, His expectations were very high, however He was disappointed when He reached near and ultimately spoke an irrevocable curse that destroyed the show off life of that fig tree(ref. Mark 11:10-14).
It is said about a preacher who once preached a very good sermon and all the church members applauded him for the good message, the very next Sunday, he preached the same message again and this time people were a bit confused, however no one really complained, and when this repeated again the third week, few elders stood up and questioned the eloquent preacher to justify about the repeated message, the servant of God said, 'The main intention of my message is not just to make you feel good, however I would be more blessed if I would have seen it being practiced in your lives too.'
God has a purpose through His Word and He is happy when he sees it being fulfilled.
Our spiritual obesity may lead us to spiritual disfiguration where our names would be found everywhere, in the church attendance register, famous amongst the people etc, however before the judgment seat of God, with nil applicability of His Word.
How can we overcome this? How can we get back in shape? Should we stop hearing from the Word and lose our faith which comes only by hearing, and hearing from the Word of God? Or should be cut ourselves off from the Word of God and starve to spiritual death?
Dear Ones!!! Let's work out…
1. Trust and believe the Word of God.
2. Put the Word of God in practice in your daily life.
3. Have your personal devotion and prayer life.
4. Finally, preach the Word of God using words when you find an opportunity and through the example of your own life always.
God is in shape and desires the same from us too. Did He not ask this from us?
"Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect."
Matthew 5:48 (New Kings James version),
In other words, "Get in shape".
