Muncie, Indiana – an AP story says a woman, Honesty Knight, was arrested by a state trooper after she lit up a marijuana cigarette while her friend was being cited for a traffic violation. But in all fairness, she did ask the police officer if she could light up before doing so. She did fail to mention what she was going to light up.
In Chicago, 250 laid off factory workers have staged a sit-in to protest the fact that they weren’t given 60 days notice. The problem here is that the company has no money to pay them for 60 more days. If it were me, I’d be out looking for a company that can still write paychecks. But everyone is entitled to a protest.
Ben Stein’s new DVD release, Expelled – No Intelligence Allowed is a must-see for anyone who believes the evidences in favor of Intelligent Design need to be submitted for debate. Too many scientists who openly challenge Darwinism are losing their jobs. Too many teachers who even mention ID are being harassed by school administrations. Bailout is the new word of the day. My pastor reminded us that the most important bailout happened some 2000 years ago. God sent His Son to pay our debt, and Christians should remain a light for the world even when the economy is going south. If we fall into the same panic stricken pit of despair the world is falling into, how can we appear to know a better and more grace oriented path?
Now I realize that things look grim. People are losing their jobs, their homes, and their savings. But if those that have means reach out to those in need, continue to pray for the well-being and hearts of others, well – let’s see what the Bible says about that…”If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV) The world needs to get back to placing their trust in the Father of real prosperity – the prosperity of human souls seeking Godly wisdom.
