Children
In the beginning the world was empty and God created the heaven and the earth, the birds and the animals, the fishes and the insects, the trees and the shrubs etc. Then God handmade a man and named him Adam.. He gave him a partner named Eve. They lived happily in the garden of Eden. But soon they disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit. This made God very angry and He chased them out of Eden.
Now that Adam and Eve were chased out of the garden, Eden, they had to toil day and night to eat the fruits of the earth. Soon they had 2 sons – Cain and Abel. Adam and Eve were very happy that God still loved them, even though they sinned against God.
Cain had a great interest in gardening. He enjoyed sowing and reaping wheat and all kinds of grains. But Abel loved grazing his dad, flock in the green pastures. He enjoyed tending to the needs of his sheep.
Adam and Eve always made sure that their sons loved and respected God. They said 'Whatever your interests may be, give the best of what you have to God, because He deserves the BEST'. Cain did not obey his parents, he did not care to give the best of his Harvests to God as offering, God was very upset with him. Abel gave the best of the first born of his flock to God as an offering, and God was very pleased with him. Cain got angry. God warned Cain that he should change his attitude and learn to love and give the best. He advised Cain 'If you keep on doing wrong, sin will overtake you. You should learn to master sin'.
But Cain was not ready to change his behaviour, he was very jealous of his little brother Abel. He thought everybody loves him more, even God. He thought he will put an end to it. He took Abel to a secret place and killed him. He thought nobody saw him. But nothing is hidden from God. God saw it all.
God became very sad. He loved Abel a lot because he was more obedient and a loving person. He called Cain and asked ‘where is your brother’, but Cain replied ‘I don't know.’ He lied to God. God became more angrier than before and sent him out of His presence. Cain left God's presence and wandered in the wilderness for the sins he had done.
Adam and Eve felt very sorry for what had happened, they lost both their sons now. But God still loved them as before, so He gave them another son and they named him Seth. They were very happy and thankful to God. They taught Seth how to love God and serve God. He also grew up to be a child pleasing God and his parents.
To whom can you compare yourself? Are you a jealous, quarrelsome and a disobedient child like Cain or an obedient and loving child like Abel. God loves children who are loving and sweet.
