Burger chains across the country are giving up on the idea of including $1 as part of the ingredients for their double cheeseburgers.
Wendy’s at first tried to make a crisp $1 bill as a substitute for lettuce but this was not received enthusiastically by the general public.
Burger King attempted to use four quarters in place of pickles for a ‘Quarter Pounder’ but this also didn’t go over very well.
Perhaps the worst attempt, however, was by burger giant McDonald’s which attempted to place one hundred pennies throughout their double cheeseburgers. “That was a big mistake,” Donald Hepner, spokesman and chair of the McDonald’s ‘$1 Doublecheese Project’. Someone came up with the idea of making it a “Two Pound’s worth of doublecheese” by adding two pounds of pennies to the sandwich. Not all ideas work out as well as they sound on paper…”
