Words on edge - cleaving strife
Slices like a knife.
Gentle whispers of unfolding wings
Catches breeze of a butterfly's flight.
Spell binding oration - mobilizing an entire nation.
While idle speeches - well rehearsed
Only promote stagnation.
Words that bring a mutual closure
Balancing on edge of self-exposure.
Neglected words aimed to soothe a passing soul.
Time - the consuming enemy hastens
Its unspoken toll.
Angry words in which sparks ignite - untamed
Send forth a torrent of rage
As fanning an unquenchable flame.
Cold, measured words of political protocol
Their icy words behind closed doors could
Cause one's skin to crawl.
A home of hearth, merriment and mirth
Its conception precedes a wanted child's birth.
Demands that enforce agreement
With sustained persuasion
Sent uncontested to promote an icon's stagnation.
Broken promises to a loved one?
The wedges of annulled vows aren't meant
To be carelessly undone.
Dicey words dealt neatly on a tray
Spiritual senses dulled - as predators prey.
Self inflated words of an overblown balloon -
As passer-by points pride!
Self esteem shriveled to its former tune.
The idle words of chatter are cheap.
While measured words of the wise are deep.
When the Living Word of God penetrates
To the marrow of your bones,
Be assured He is showing your way home.
The irate words of war permeate hatred
But the olive branch of peace - understated.
The words of Lucifer embed lies.
The Word of God - precepts to live by.
Unheralded words defame.
On the Word of God - the soul sustains.
(To maim or tame is not the same!)
But I mustn't continue to convey - as if to construe.
Capturing all the subjects that words employ
As not to annoy with imagined ploy.
To conclude, The Lord girded the world
With His spoken Word,
As heaven's cosmic display.
Ashamedly without pretense am I prepared to say?
By each idle word we will be judged someday.
Should I convey with further sway?
Centuries contend that the "pen is mightier
Than the sword."
If so, may I amend - further stirred
Signature assured - may I infer?
There is supremacy in "God's Word."
Once and above all beloved,
"Jesus is Lord."
