For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. Psalms 73:3
These words were penned by Asaph, but could have very well been written by me! There’ve been times when I looked around and questioned why the wicked seemed to prosper in everything they do, while the righteous seem to just get by.
Perhaps you’ve been there as well, the budget is out the window, food is scarce; the collectors continue to call and the paycheck is gone before you can get it to the bank. You look around and your neighbor is buying new boats, and off for a second vacation. The smoke from their BBQ drifts into your yard and you wonder, perhaps even question God as to why it always has to be so hard on this side of the fence.
I don’t have all the answers, but I know God has never failed me! What about you?
Yesterday, the question as asked, ‘how come those who openly curse God seem to have everything and want for nothing?’ I wasn’t shocked by the question, because it’s been mine in the past. I explained the riches in eternity far outweigh the riches here on earth.
Asaph must have felt the same thing. He goes as far to say he was envious, and before we ridicule this, step back for a moment and search your heart. Sometimes it just doesn’t seem fair! Sometimes you can’t help but wonder if God has forgotten where you are!
Let me assure you today, God knows exactly where you are and He knows exactly what you need. While the wicked may prosper, it is but for a moment! If they do not turn their hearts to God their riches will mock them through eternity!
I know the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor. (Psalms 140:12)
Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider! We sing that Your grace is sufficient for me, yet there are moments when we become envious of those around us who seem to prosper with no regards to You. Forgive us for looking to the things of this world, and help us Lord to stay focused on You! Help us Lord to recognize that You and You alone are our Provider! Help us Lord to know that You will maintain the cause of the afflicted and the right of the poor! Thank You for supplying all of our needs! In Jesus Name, AMEN!

I like the way you ask questions but don't try to give a zillion answers. You could write a year-long devotional with ease. Pages like this one would leave you with only 364 more to write! (well, not counting all the other ones you've written too). You leave the reader with a gentle nudge to meditate on their own. The way you do not assume control of their relationship with the Lord is delightful!
