Here we are on the 1st day of a 2007 and many will make resolutions for the New Year. Listen closely and you will hear all sorts of goals, and there is no doubt that those who make these goals are resolute, at least for the moment, but I would like you to think for a moment about Abraham and our spiritual persuasion.
Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
HE WAS FULLY PERSUADED!
The Greek definition for persuaded is: to carry out fully; completely assured or convinced; most surely believe; fully know; make full proof of.
Did you start off the New Year being fully persuaded that what God promised you, He will perform?
Perhaps He has promised your children will be saved and the New Year has rolled over without any indication of this taking place, but are you FULLY PERSUADED?
Maybe God has promised a breakthrough in your finances, and here you are starting a New Year and the bill collector’s call without fail; are you FULLY PERSUADED that what God promised He will perform?
Abraham was told he would have a child. The scripture says: And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb. To the natural eye, it looked impossible, but Abraham looked past what the eye could see! He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Let’s start this New Year being fully persuaded that what God has promised us He will perform! Though your body may seem dead; though the finances may seem out of control; though your children may seem far from redemption; though your marriage may be falling apart; grab hold of the PROMISES of GOD! STAGGER NOT AT HIS PROMISES!
If you made resolutions for the New Year, go back to the drawing board and evaluate God’s promises! Are there any that you’ve given up on? Have you decided there is no hope in any of your situations? Have you thought perhaps you didn’t hear God correctly and maybe that promise wasn’t for you?
I want to encourage you today, when God makes a promise you can take it to the bank! He doesn’t make resolutions and throw them by the wayside a few days later! Regardless what things may look like; regardless how things may appear; regardless of how long it has been WHEN GOD PROMISES – HE PERFORMS!
God of Abraham, thank You for Your promises! Thank You for being a God that keeps His WORD! Thank You for never failing us! Lord, there are many today who have given up; things look really bad and although they know You promised, they have started to stagger; unbelief has started to take over and the promises seem an impossible task! We bring these friends to Your feet and ask that their eyes are opened once again to Your WORD! Stir up the promises within them! Help them to see that You have not left them, nor forsaken them and You will perform every promise!
In Your Mighty, All Powerful Name, AMEN!

Jounda, I am fully persuaded that what God has promised, He will perform. Maybe not on my timetable (were it left to little old me, it would have been done yesterday!), but on His. That's good enough for me. Personally, sometimes, rather than the speedy resolution, I prefer to be amazed at the working out of things by Him--this is where I learn and grow the most. Happy New Year, dear friend. I'm so glad to see you back! Beth
