DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT!
“Look at the ravens. They don’t need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to Him than any birds! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not! And if worry can’t do little things like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?” Luke 12:24-26 NIV
Don’t worry about it!!! When we hear someone tell us that, sometimes we want to say, “That’s easy for you to say! You aren’t going through what I am going through!”
“Don’t worry about it!!!” Sometimes it makes us feel like the other person is making light of our struggles and concerns.
However, it’s Jesus who says, “Don’t worry about it!!” It’s Jesus who says that God has provided for the ravens; It’s Jesus who says to look how the lilies grow and how beautiful they are, even though they do not work or make their own clothing; It’s Jesus who says that God clothes the grass that is here today and gone tomorrow; It’s Jesus who says that if God takes care of birds, flowers, and grass surely He will take care of us.
It is Jesus who says don’t worry, because if you do, then you have ‘little faith.’ (v. 28)
It is Jesus who encourages us to let go of the worry and grab hold of the faith. It is Jesus who suggests that if we trusted God to take care of us, we would not worry. It is Jesus who advises us to put our faith in the One who created us and knows all about us. It is Jesus who would like for us to believe that God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and everywhere at the same time. It is Jesus that would have us believe that “…God will supply our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” It’s Jesus who says, “take no thought for your life…”
Are you worrying about something or someone today? Is your mind cluttered with thoughts on how things are going to work out? Are you consumed with anxiety and concern for a situation in your life? Are you having trouble resting, because you are
nervous and fretful about something that may not work out; or are you worried about something you think may happen? Guess what? Jesus says you have little faith!
He says that God knows what you have need of (v. 30).
Jesus says all we have to do, is ‘…seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added.” Matthew 6:33
Think about it…God created you; HE loved you first; HE loves you most; HE knows all about you; He knows what you need, before you know what you need; He knows what is going to happen in the future and knows what has already happened in the past. He is able to do all things; EVERYTHING belongs to Him; He is faithful; He does not change; His Word is true; And He says to ‘cast your care on Him, because HE cares for you.’ (I Peter 5:7);
His Word says to ‘be anxious for nothing, but everything in prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.’
God says, Give it to Me. Cast your cares on Me. If you seek Me; if you call upon Me, I will answer. Put your trust in Me, and not in yourselves. If you make Me the priority in your life, I will cause you to rest and have peace. I will calm your storm, and supply your need. I will draw near to you, if you will draw near to Me.
Remember, ‘Don’t worry about it!’
