Poetry
Too long I've lived my life in fear
Concerned what men might say
I've watched and listened to your words
But always walked away
This day I cast my fears aside
And dread of others' scorn
To ask of Pilate, beg of him
Your body ripped and torn
Too late to come and follow you
To meet you face to face
So take from me this one last gift
My tomb, Your resting place
With fragrant mryyh and linen strips
Your body I will bind
And as I nurse you in my arms
A tender peace I'll find
My love will gently wash away
The wounds from nails and whips
My worship silence hateful words
From mocking, evil lips
Rest now, my Lord, until the time
You need my tomb no more
When resurrection power floods through
And opens wide the door
And angels sit and smile at men
And sing with voices clear
"He has risen from the dead!"
Come see, He isn't here!
And then before a watching world
I'll own you as my King
My heart, my soul, my strength, my love -
I give you everything
