UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST
I was just sitting here having a discussion with a friend of mine and immediately something welled up in my spirit. Unity! The one place where unity should abide is the one place where unity is not present. I am speaking about the body of Christ, the church. The one place where peace and harmony should abide is the one place where people fail to be on one accord. I don’t think God intended for the church to be un-unified. In the book of Psalm, chapter 133, verse 1, the scripture tells us “How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” The church is the place where we run to for fellowship, for harmony, for peace, for love for your fellow believers, but instead of us dwelling in unity together, we are busy conspiring against each other. At times, you feel as if there is more unity outside of church, than inside. I have often heard it said as well that Sundays are the most segregated time of the week. Denominations against denominations, choir against choir, the left side not in harmony with the right side. Where did we all wrong. In Ephesians, chapter 4, verse 5, it says, “One Lord, one faith, one baptism.” If there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, then why do we act so superior to others? My son wrote a song a few years back, and in part of the song, he states, “WE OUGHT TO BE A FAMILY LOVE ONE ANOTHER, INSTEAD WE ARE OUT HERE IN THIS WORLD TRYING TO KILL OUR BROTHER.” Satan is our common enemy, yet we think that it is each other. We are so busy trying to tear each other down, that Satan can walk right through the front door and slay us all. We are children of God fighting amongst ourselves, fighting to see whose ministry is the best, whose church is bigger; whose church is the right church. It is not about whose bigger, it matters that we teach and preach Jesus. It matters that we fellowship with each other, it matters that we worship God together. It matters that we show love to each other. It matters that we teach our children to fellowship, and worship and love. Our children follow the examples of the adults. If they see adults fighting in church, they think they can do it. If they see people backstabbing each other in church, they think they can do it, if they see and hear people cussing in church, they think they can do it. We are setting our children up for failure because we fail to dwell together in unity with one another. You would rather talk about me than worship with me. You would rather speak ill of someone who is doing right than being supportive of them. Because we do not dwell in unity one with another, our churches are suffering. Because we do not dwell in unity one with another, our children are suffering. Because we do not dwell in unity one with another, the body of Christ is suffering.
We need to open our eyes and realize that it is not about us, it is about furthering the kingdom of Heaven. It is being about God’s business and not our own. It is about the coming together of the saints instead of isolating one another. This country needs a revival, a Holy Ghost revival, where all the saints of God come together on one accord. Do you all remember what happened at the day of Pentecost, when they all came together on one accord? My oh my, what a time in the spirit. God showed me a vision where ALL of the churches and ministries within my community come together on one accord and have a REVIVAL. I don’t know when, and I don’t know how, but I know that God can do it…….This is not a racial war, not a civil war, not a war amongst yourselves, this battle we are fighting is against satan. Stop giving satan a heads up in our churches and in our lives. Stop allowing ourselves to be bad examples to our children for the future. In Colossians 3:14 in the NIV version, it reads, “Above over all these virtues, put on love which binds them together in perfect unity. Let’s leave our children a legacy, let’s teach them how to love, let’s teach them how to dwell in unity with their brothers and sisters of all nationalities. Let’s teach them how to be about God’s business, let’s stop fighting in the churches, let’s stop backstabbing one another, stop letting our children see us do the work of the enemy, and start teaching them to be about the business of God. When they see us dwelling in unity with one another, they too will dwell with each other in unity. Lets teach them how to live according to the scriptures, and to follow Ephesians 4:3 by making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Back stabbing and persecutions among Christians cause downfall of the body of Christ, and that's exactly what the enemy wants. May we all be reminded of this truth and continue to pray for unity, especially among us, christians. Thank you for writing on this subject. God bless, Gloria
