I can’t hear You, Lord, the TV is too loud,
My thoughts are all scattered and running around.
You want me to what? What’s that you say?
Lord, You know I’m too busy to take time to pray!
I’ve got to cook, and wash, and clean everything,
I hope there’s no visitors and the phone doesn’t ring!
Lord, there just isn’t time for You today,
What’s that? Where do my treasures lay?
Oh, Father, Your truth is a two-edged sword,
It cuts quick and deep, You, it draws us toward.
Forgive me, Oh God, for covering my ears,
And shutting You out every time You get near.
Forgive me for setting myself on the throne,
Thinking I’m important, I know I was wrong.
Thanks for reminding me where my attentions should be,
Not on what I have and do, but on Your will for me.
For Your will is perfect, acceptable, and good,
To do it would please You, I know that it would.
To care and share and minister to others,
To show them the love of their Heavenly Father.
Oh, Lord, I can now hear Your voice very plain,
You’ve given me this day, for treasures to gain.
Not things corrupt with moth and rust,
And purchased with plastic, out of lust.
But beautiful treasures that will last forever,
And from me, not even death can sever.
I’ll call Mrs. Johnson, she’s not feeling well,
And of Your healing and love, I’ll be sure to tell.
And poor widow Murphy certainly struggles,
A few dollars would help with the bills she juggles.
My sweet young neighbors with their baby brand new,
I’ll take a casserole and see what else I might do.
Oh, Father, I’m glad I finally opened my ears,
Listened to You, and shed a few tears.
For wherever my treasure is, so my heart will be,
And serving You and others is the treasure chest key.
