There's something every woman carries, and little girls do too.
Made of plastic, canvas, leather, straw, lots of other things too.
It may have zippers inside and out, or fancy, shiny snaps,
And almost always somewhere about, it has hand or shoulder straps.
It comes in many colors and shapes, multitudes of purposes it serves,
And you, I'm sure, have guessed by now, what I'm referring to is your purse.
Some may call it a pocketbook, handbag, or even suitcase,
Whatever it's called, it's filled to the rim, to meet every need you'll face.
There's tissues for your little girl's nose, and a comb for your hubby,
A jingling toy for your tiny babe, and some gum for little Bubby.
You may need scissors, needle, and thread, to rescue someone's shirt,
Or ointment, wet-ones, and band-aids, after someone's fall in the dirt.
You need a book to read while you wait, hairspray on a windy day,
And don't forget that piece of mail, it's a bill you need to pay.
There might even be a small flashlight, for when a tire goes flat,
And of course you need a camera, when your daughter goes up to bat.
As time goes by you'll find eyeglasses, within the treasures of your stash,
You'll need them often to find your pills, pictures, license, and cash.
You'll need quarters to feed the mechanical horse, the kid's'll ride outside stores,
And tweezers for the splinters, gotten at the kiddie park outdoors,
One thing your purse may never have, when you need them, is your keys,
Though anything else but the kitchen sink, you can find with great ease.
A woman needs these things and more, filling her role as Mom and wife,
For all come to her for this or that, from her purse, her toolbox for Life.
