HEALING THROUGH USING WHAT GOD GAVE YOU
Creativity is often part of the healing process. Trauma seems to release, in many people, the ability to use the talents God gave them. For me, although I wrote a fair bit, the release of the gift seemed to come after a really awful time in my life. The more I healed, the more I wrote, and the more I wrote, the more God seemed to heal me.
When we feel we have nothing to lose, we can only turn to God and say; "fill me." The wineskin is drained to the very bottom, and there is nothing left to pour out. Nothing is in the way of what God wants to do because all we now have is a faltering hope that God will do things for us His way.
When we most identify with Jesus on the cross crying 'My God, my God, WHY have you forsaken me?" Then it is the beginning of all things most precious and holy in our lives. Out of this despair, lived through, and still with the hope that almighty God will step in and help us out of our intense pain and misery, ressurection bursts forth. I give up can be the start of "I give in." "I give in Lord, to your way." All that is left is the very kernel of the things God meant for our destiny. It is as if God says, 'here is the bit that was really you in ME." Here is what stood the fire, and now it can be released. At last now all the old things have been knocked out, I can begin to show you what I meant your life to be." All our old self willed plans for our destiny are knocked away, and we actually start to get where we were meant to be and go in this life. So often, our gifts lurk in the shadows till all is stripped away. The devil's attempt to destroy us is, in reality, the gift of God to make us truly whole and useful to Him. Finally, as clay pounded, we are ready for release to the Potter's wheel. The pot that is formed this time is strong and useful and holds the most fragrant of oil to be poured out. The most fragile and delicate pot, the one that so easily feels it can be broken again, often holds the sweetest of perfume, because it can say that God kept me and I found Jesus in my own personal crucifixion. I am fully released into my new birth in Jesus. There is nothing left to give, but my all. When all is given, all the creative force of Ressurection power is Jesus is released.
Peace, peace, to him who is far off [both Jew and Gentile] and to him who is near! says the Lord; I create the fruit of his lips, and I will heal him [make his lips blossom anew with speech in thankful praise].
God's intention is to make us able to use all the gifts He has given us. Our peace comes in the surrender we give to Him. Finally at peace, even in saying. "God I can't do anything more about my own life. If you don't step in and do something, I am lost." comes the ability to pour forth the very praise in whatever way we have been gifted, to the Lord we always wanted to give.
Peace is not about a feeling. Peace is about surrender. We can have peace in the midst of the greatest torment if we have told God; "I give it all up to you." Peace in its rawest form is when you know there is no more left to give. We stop wandering round the world looking for solutions in therapies or pills or counselling, we realise there is only one Helper who knows us inside out, and we 'Cast our burdens onto Jesus." We finally let HIM care.
We may feel terrified or alone or helpless in the face of a great storm; but when all we have left is our faltering prayers to Jesus, then we may have most peace. In those times we may start to paint or draw or write or help others in some way that we never truly gave ourselves to before. The Holy Spirit starts to well up within, and at the release of the creativity, something inside heals. That release of creativity is inner healing oil to the wounded spirit, it releases the tension, and brings us peace; and so often what we do in that time blesses someone who is suffering as we suffered.
