Short Dramas and Plays
This is a short skit done in Rhyme, about the things we pray for, and how our prayers our answered. As we all know, sometimes the answer may solve the problem, but not necessarily the way we hoped it would.
A Prayer For Bill
Narrator: In a hospital waiting room, on a very sad night
Three brothers gathered to pray
For their brother Bill, who had a heart attack
Sometime earlier that day
Bill had gone into surgery, hours before
The victim of severe heart disease
And right there on the waiting room floor
The three brothers fell to their knees
Brother 1: “Oh Lord”
Narrator: Prayed the first brother
Brother 1: “Please be with Bill now
Guide the doctors as they operate, please show them how
For Lord, there’ no other whom Bill loved more that You
And he always did what You told him to do”
Brother 2: “Oh God”
Narrator: prayed the second brother
Brother 2: “please stop Bill’s pain
He’s in a storm now, Lord, please calm the rain
Father, make him healthy, and well again soon
And be with him now in the operating room”
Narrator: The third brother prayed
Brother 3: “Yes Lord, its true
Bill’s life is in Your hands, its all up to You
Please end His agony, be with him today
And Lord in this hospital give him a short stay”
Narrator: Then the doctor walked in and said with a sigh
Doctor: “I’m sorry to tell you, but Bill has just died
We fought for his life like I told you we would
We operated for hours, did all that we could
I was sure he would make it, if he lived through the night
But his life slipped away in the thick of the fight”
Narrator: The first brother sobbed, and he said with a fuss
Brother 1: “God didn’t listen to any of us
We prayed to Him and believed He would hear
And give our dear brother a few more happy years”
Narrator: The second brother sat and he wore a blank stare
He said to the others
Brother 2: “God just doesn’t care”
Narrator: He burst into tears, and then shook his head
Brother 2: “God could have saved him, but now Bill is dead”
Narrator: The third brother smiled, and told the other two
Brother 3: “God heard me pray and He heard both of you
How can you say ‘God just doesn’t care?’
Can’t you see that He answered our prayer?”
