His Pathways
In April 1992 I received a very precious birthday card from my parents. My dearest mother (now with the Lord) had written in the card. As I read it again today (some 12 years later), I realized afresh that God's promises are eternal, up-to-date and relevant.
Little did I know back then how my life would unfold: immigration, loss of my mother, illness. New directions, new hemisphere ... But the Lord knew and He guided her to write the following (along with some wonderful Scriptures):
"All our ways are known to the Lord,
every turn in the way is noticed by Him.
Yesterday's trial He knew:
Today's difficulty is under His eye,
And tomorrow's care is seen by Him,
And He says, 'Let not your heart be troubled' (John 14:1)" [original source unknown]
The full verse says: " Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me" (NLT)
This led me to read further in Psalm 27. Be encouraged.
"The Lord is my light and my salvation - so why should I be afraid? The Lord protects me from danger - so why should I tremble? (v1)
"Teach me how to live, O Lord, lead me along the path of honesty, for my enemies are waiting for me to fall"(v11)
"Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord"(v14)
Psalm 25:10 tells us that "All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant"(NIV) "The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all those who keep his covenant and obey his decrees"(NLT)
I'm reminded of the verse: "He knoweth the way that I take ..."
On life's pathway we are not alone. Unfortunately we do not always take advantage of the promises and resources He has provided. He is our Light, Salvation, Protector, Teacher, Leader and Guide.
We need to learn to trust Him more, be at peace in Him, brave and courageous.
As we rest and trust in Him, we will find strength, courage, faith, protection, guidance, salvation, love and peace.
He knows the path we take and He has promised "I will never leave you, nor forsake you". Praise His wonderful Name.
