I believe that it is. In Matthew 14, Jesus walks on water. I could be wrong, but I believe there is secondary prophetic content to the true story. But to support this, I have to go to the words of Jesus in John 9, just before He heals the man born blind:
4 We must work the works of Him who sent Me (E)as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am (F)the Light of the world.”
Here, Jesus is saying that He and His apostles must do miraculous works while it is "day"--to authenticate their message of course. Remember that Malachi 4:2 referred to Jesus as "the sun of righteousness":
“But for you who [b]fear My name, the (D)sun of righteousness will rise with (E)healing in its wings; and you will go forth and (F)skip about like calves from the stall.
In John 9, He is also referred to as "the Light of the world." But "night" is coming, when there will be no more miraculous signs and the "sun" will be gone. Instead, it will be "night" and the "lesser light," the "moon," will be there, which in scripture is a figure for the Holy Spirit and God's chosen ones, who reflect the "light" of the "sun." So, we have had almost 2,000 years of "night."
Now we go to Matthew 14:
The "fourth watch of the night" was from 3 AM to 6 AM. So, figuratively what we have here is this: the last 500 years are the "fourth watch of the night." The apostles in the boat are representative of 2 things: the Jews and the Church. As the Jews, they are "battered by the waves" of the Gentile "waters" or "sea" (see Revelation 17:15) for almost 2,000 years before they reach the "land," Israel. (This picture is also in Noah's ark, Moses' ark and Jonah in the belly of the great fish.) As the Church, they are "battered by the waves" of the Gentile "waters" or "sea" after 1,500 years: the Roman Catholic Church had sunk deeply into false doctrine and corruption. But Jesus "came to them, walking on the [Gentile] sea." The result: "You are certainly God's Son." The Reformation brought great revival to the Church.
By the way, the John 9 verses above are good verses that provide evidence that miraculous works (not answers to prayer, however) ended with the Apostles. Of course, they will return in the last 7 years before the second coming of Christ.
