PRELUDE
What if I happened to put it in a picture? It's an enlightenment seen through the eyes of a vision so powerful that it could possibly change the scope of a nation's freewill and liberty. This enlightenment could change a nation monetarily, sociality and religiously for years to come.
"I wouldn't believe it," you'd say.
"No, I wouldn't have either if I had not seen it with my own eyes. This is an all-important vision," I would reply.
We live in a country ensnared by chaos, in dire need of divine help. So, as you read through this rather unique blog, simply give it much-needed prayer help.
Here is our story, "Sometimes Life Gets in the Way"
"In you, Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long." (Psalm 25:105)
The arrangements were made. The students were all lined up and raring to go. For some, it would be their first such outing, the trip of a lifetime, getting to tour our country's great capitol. For others it would possibly be a look back, or even a look into the future.
Night had fallen. Now it was time to tuck in for a much anticipated good night's sleep. Then it happened. I had a vision, rather strange one out of character for an old college professional. I have had many dreams before, of which were common for me. But never a vision, especially one of this caliber. Was it real or only make believe?
Before me was a large, rusty-hinged door. It looked like the entrance to a rundown, medieval castle. Hanging beside the door was a large golden key. I inserted it in the lock, pushed the door open, and walked through. I was now standing in the midlist of a large metropolitan city. As I looked around, the entire landscape seemed familiar. Within the framework of the city were a number of recognizable monuments. "Is this where I think it is?" I wondered.
Around me, to the tune of the many screaming emergency vehicles, was total chaos. Raging fires, burning buildings, smashed storefront windows, and the occasional sound of gun fire assaulted my senses. Men, women and children were running hysterically through the city streets. Law and order was obviously absent.
As if by divine direction, my vision suddenly carried me to a large white-pillared, stately mansion, securely encompassed behind a large black fence and protected by armed guards.
My vision delivered me to the middle of a large, oval office. Sitting behind a oversized antique desk, surrounded by our country's flag and many historic framed pictures, was a distinguished blond-haired gentleman. He was wearing a dark blue business suit and bright red tie.
Standing directly behind him, surrounded by a pure white cloud were two white-clad angels. These angels apparently were unseen by the man at the desk. One was holding a ram's horn, the other a large calendar, as if he was marking time.
On the desk was a large family Bible. The man's head was bowed, his hands clasped over the Bible. I couldn't help but notice tears dripping on to pages of the Bible, as he whispered.
Trying to not interrupt his prayer, I tried tiptoeing backwards from his presence and out of his office. It was too late, as he suddenly raised his head and motioned me back to his desk.
Total silenced ensued, for what seemed an eternity. Then he spoke. "Come my child, I know you must be here in answer to my prayer, to give celestial help."
"You see I had a vision of a man like none other," he went on. "A man dressed in sackcloth dusted with ashes. This man mournfully told me of things soon to come. He described the signs of the end, as displayed in the holy Scripture. There were the perils of apostasy (II Timothy 3:1-9,13) and a vivid description of the populace who were no longer content to hear the sound teachings of the Scripture, but who were compelled to turn to many different teachers of novelty and untruth. This caused mass hysteria. (II Timothy 4:3-4)"
"After giving a vivid account of this vision, this unknown character suddenly disappeared from my oval office in a cloud of dark smoke," he concluded.
After a few minutes of prolonged silence, as if by divine direction, I responded to his question. "Sir, I have seen why you are troubled. I have seen the chaos that this great capital city has fallen into. However, sometimes life just gets in the way of our godly civilization. Then the evil one steps in to block the way of divine principles and righteous living." (Ephesians 6:12)
"But God doesn't leave us, or our country, trapped in evil situations without words of hope. He has given us His Word, His promises. (II Chronicles 7:14) Above all, He has given us an open contact with Him, the conduit of prayer," I continued.
"I see from the Scriptures on your desk, that you are well on your way to conquering this obvious social problem," I went on. "You are honoring God and His promises. He will surely continue giving you guidance and direction for this great country of ours. You see, your Creator is waiting to talk with you, and has led me to quote (Psalm 27:8)."
'My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "Lord, I am coming."'
Again there was total silence, for what seemed a century, but as he stood up from his desk, his hopeless facial expression suddenly had a complete turnaround. It was replaced by a big smile and a friendly handshake.
Miraculously, the room backdrop changed as well. The two angels behind the desk, those apparently keeping time, were suddenly replaced by two newly-arrived angels. One was playing a large golden harp, the other singing the familiar Christian doxology, in tune with the harp music.
Before I could acknowledge this changed atmosphere, the entire scene suddenly disappeared. Gone was the entire panorama of the great city, and all the surroundings, including the gentleman and his big oval office.
What about the vision? Did it continue?
No. What was revealed was meant to be revealed. What was shown was meant to be shown. The message was given and received loud and clear, but I could not keep it to myself. It was too big. It involved our great country, our society, and our religious future. So, I wrote it all down, and now you have the big picture. Or should I say the vision.
So what was the ultimate conclusion of the vision? Where shall we begin? Your deliberation please! Amen!
"Be strong and brave. Don't be afraid... and don't be frightened, because the Lord your God will go with you. He will not leave you or forget you." (Deuteronomy 31: 6)
EPILOGUE
Scripture tells of God guiding His people through all kinds of circumstances. (Exodus 13:21) (Acts 12:7) God's guidance for us stems from our relationship with Him. (Isaiah 40:11)
The temptation we often face, however, is to run our own lives and then ask God to bless us. (Proverbs 3:5) Then sometimes life gets in the way. However, what God wants from us is very different. (Jeremiah 29:11)
I trust you enjoyed this challenging fictional vision. Understandably, life does sometimes get in the way. Secular design doesn’t always see eye to eye with one's spiritual plans. That's where one's faith comes into play. (Hebrews 11:1)
Sometimes you just have to let go and let God have His way, if you want to experience the true beauty of life. But you just can't keep it to yourself. You must tell others. (Romans 10:14-15)
The instruction of going forth is loud and clear in (Matthew 28:19-20). The significance is three-fold: going, baptizing and teaching. And where must we go? This too is plain and simple. (Acts 1:8) So go for it! Don't let life get in your way. Amen!
