“Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions. Are you near to the kingdom of God? How can you know? Well, look at what Jesus said to the man in these verses. If we live by the commandments of the Lord, truly loving Him and accepting Him at His word, then we are near to the kingdom of God. In fact, the kingdom does dwell within the heart of one who belongs to the Lord. Now I would call that near! Very often the answer to our questions appears directly within scripture. We just will read right over the answer without truly contemplating that which we are being told. Let the kingdom of God dwell within your heart. Serve the Lord with all that you have! The kingdom of God is near!
