REPENTANCE, A DIVINE PROTOCOL!
God is good. He loves us so much that He made provision for us through Christ Jesus to have eternal life and experience great blessings throughout our journey here on Earth. However, there are three enemy obstacles that could hinder and rob us if we allow them. These are our sins, the devil and our unbelief. Unbelief equals disobedience. Hebrews 12:1-12; John 10:10; Hebrews 3:16-19. Wholehearted repentance removes the obstacle of sin that hinders us from receiving God's gifts and blessings.
Hebrews 12:1.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
As vital as wholehearted prayer is to our walk and cordial relationship with our Heavenly Father Jehovah, many Christians don't pray. And many of the very few that pray, experience very little or no results or tangible benefits, because there's no REPENTANCE, which is a divine foundation, requirement and protocol for answers to prayer. Little wonder majority of the Church is weak and so, sinners have little or no motivation to receive the GOSPEL, repent and turn their lives to Jesus Christ.
Repentance from sin and unrighteousness is the highest form of humility portraying obedience in our relationship with God. Wholehearted repentance attracts the grace, help, favor, healing and promotion of God. It also produces supernatural enablement and capacity to resist, subdue and overcome sinful desires, habits, the devil and demonic oppression effectively. Repentance enhances spiritual and moral transparency which strengthens our relationship with God in such incredibly close, personal and cordial way.
James 4:6-10.
And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say,
“God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.”
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
Effective repentance requires that we confess wholeheartedly, specific sinful habits, attitudes and lifestyles to God in prayer. We do this with the intention of forsaking and turning away from such practices by the help, support and ability of the Holy Spirit.
Let's follow divine protocol in order to enjoy supernatural results. Lack of repentance is spiritual pride, stubbornness and rebellion that makes us vulnerable to Satan's vicious accusations and attacks!
SOME EXAMPLES OF PERSONAL SINS TO CONFESS AND FORSAKE. Read Ephesians 4:17-31.
Wholehearted repentance always results in reconciliation, restoration of broken relationship and healthy, effective communication. This ultimately enhances peace, harmony and confidence in approaching God's throne of grace and our expectation to be accepted, heard, and our requests granted as heirs of God.
1 John 5:14.15.
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything ACCORDING TO HIS WILL which pleases him always. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
