When Glenn and Maggie got home, Glenn made Maggie a peanut butter sandwich. He could see there was still fear in her eyes, so he bent down and held her close. "Oh, baby, Daddy's not going to let anybody hurt you," he said softly, stroking her hair. "Until this scare is over, you're going to be home with me. You'll always be exactly where Daddy can see you, okay?"
Maggie was crying again. She wrapped her arms around her father's neck and hugged him as tightly as she could. Glenn kissed her forehead and said, "Finish the rest of your snack. I'm going to look over my notes again. Going to do everything I can to make sure the mean man is locked up forever." He kissed her on her cheek. "Let me know if you need anything."
As Maggie ate, Glenn lay down on the couch and started reading his notes. He was soon overcome by sleep and closed his eyes and began to snore softly. As he slept, a man with long hair and a shiny robe appeared in the dream. "Glenn," he said.
Glenn was stunned. He'd never met this guy before! "How did you know my name?"
"Someone your daughter talked to told me to talk to you," said the man. "You know, it woukw really make her happy if you baked Christmas cookies with her." (The man didn't tell Glenn he was an angel or what Maggie had prayed.)
Glenn woke up with a start. He waw sure he'd just had a dream, but he suddenly felt the urge to make Christmas cookies. "Hey, Maggie, when you're done with your sandwich, how would you like to help Daddy bake Christmas cookies?".
Maggie smiled and nodded, her eyes wide with excitement.
