"The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD." (Isaiah 11:2)
When we have good counsel, that eternal counsel that is given to us from God, then we will have might enable us to enact the will of God in our lives. It is not a feeling of might that we gain when eating a bowl of Wheaties but it is a perpetual existence in the might of the Lord.
Caleb was a man who had faith in the counsel of the Lord. When returning from spying out the Promised Land Caleb along with Joshua advised that the Israelite people could take the land. They believed this because they had faith in the counsel of the Lord. If our walk of faith is in the counsel of the Lord, then His might will enable us to accomplish that which He has counseled us to do. "Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, "We should by all means go up and take possession of it, for we will surely overcome it." (Number 13:30)
King David was a man who was in pursuit of the heart of God. In that pursuit, he found the strength to avoid the challenge of King Saul who wished to destroy him. He found might to lead the Israelite nation in conquest to increase their borders to a fuller possession of the Promised Land. The more we understand the heart of God the more we will know His will for us and the purpose He has for our life. This allows us to set our course upon that which the Lord wants to accomplish through us. Christ will empower and strengthen us to do all things according to His will. Along with the Apostle Paul, we will be able to say, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13) Our life would be all the more abundant to be flowing with the might of God’s power in our lives to carry us in our endeavors of the day.
It is a marvelous experience to have an understanding of the heart of God but to see His wisdom and might work through our lives is an astonishing witness to all who know us. To walk in the power of God would not only be a lift for ourselves but would lift those who are about us. Many people do not act because they lack confidence in their own abilities. Once you have the unquenchable power of God working through your life it will have far-reaching revelations to those around you. You will know without a doubt that you are born again in the Spirit. The people that come into contact with you will know that there is something different about you that is out of this world. How is that? One reason is that you know that you know and your countenance will show it because you will have the countenance of the Lord upon you.
I can get up from my quiet time with the Lord at the beginning of each day and walk unafraid in the confidence that no matter what comes into my path to oppose me I will overcome. I walk with an inner strength that is not my own but comes from the Lord. I am not depending upon myself to tackle life’s challenges but on the might of the Lord who leads me on the path set before me. It does not matter what obstacles life places before me the Lord has a plan to overcome them and make them work for good according to his purposes. If I acknowledge Him in everything I do then He is the director of the way that I should go. "In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:6)
