For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
God has big plans for us, but we can get in the habit of forgetting to ask Him what those plans are. We all get busy with life and sometimes forget to put Him first. This scripture shows He has great plans for us, but if we don’t take time to ask Him what they are, they won’t become apparent in our lives.
One way we can ask God is by just talking to Him, whether in prayer or another way. By asking, we show we want His input. We want the promises of this scripture, but in order to find them we need to be willing to ask God what His plans are.
After we ask God, we need to be willing to listen to what He says. Often we ask God for something but don’t listen to His reply. We get our answers by listening to Him. He will always answer. We may want one thing, but He has plans for something else. Remember, His plans give us a hope and a future.
When we take the time to ask and listen to God, we need to be willing to obey His response. Listening is pointless if we don’t do what He says. Even if we get off course, He is always ready to lead us back to His will.
Today we need to ask God what He wants, willingly listen and do what He says. He will show us how He plans to prosper us.
