Jesus was on his way to Jairus house to heal his dying daughter
The crowds pressed him
For he was the miracle worker
Looking intently at him was a woman
A woman whose disease caused her to be labeled unclean
This woman had an issue of blood for twelve years
She spent all she had on doctors
But she was not cured
She must have heard so much about him
That;
He heals the sick, cast out devils and cleanses lepers
Truly he must be the Messiah
This woman knew what it felt like to be scorned
She knew what endurance meant
She endured this disease for twelve years
She was poor and in need of healing
Her body was getting weaker with each passing day
Her desires for normal human interaction
Giving and receiving affection was denied
Who would touch an unclean woman
Who would hug and dry her tears
Soothe her fears
In spite of her circumstances this woman was determined
She wanted to be healed
She said to herself
If I may but touch the hem of his garment
I will be made whole
All I need to do she is said is just touch the hem of his garment
So she pressed her way through the crowd
Mustering strength she reached out to touch Jesus
Just his hem, she coaxed her self on
Just the hem of his garment and I will be made whole
As she came closer
We may all wonder if anyone one noticed her
But, she had to remain focused
No matter if someone shouted – unclean
She pressed until
She touched the hem of his garment
The blood stopped flowing immediately
She was made whole
Jesus asked, " Who touched me?"
Master, the crowd is pressing you one of his disciples’ answered
He did not understand the question
Jesus replied saying virtue has left me
When she realized she could not hide
She fell at the feet of Jesus and told her story of pain and
her testimony of healing
Jesus told her “Daughter be of good cheer, your faith has made you whole,
go in peace.”
Today let us be determined like this woman
We may not be experiencing an issue of blood
But we all face challenges
Let us press through doubt, fear, pride, unbelief, shame, and disappointment
Press through with prayer
Press through with fasting
Press through with praise
Press through with a dance
Press through with a Hallelujah shout
We will realize while we are extending our faith to him
The nail-scarred hand of Jesus is releasing virtue to us

In the Wednesday night "addictions" Bible study, we discussed a similar Biblical story. It's where Simon and his gang of Pharisees were hanging out at his house, and a "sinful" woman enters and washes Jesus' feet with her tears. The moral of the story is that Jesus came to rescue sinners, not people who on the surface dot their I's and cross their T's.
