I have had a few encounters with God, where a message was communicated to me. It came as a knowing, dream or words rolling out of my mouth.
“On the other side of the fear is the flow” is one of these brief messages. At the time I did not know a this was in the Bible, the promised land and the Jews, the land flowing with milk and honey was on the other side of their fear. It was fear that kept the Jews from entering the promised land the first time. Ten spies spread fear and doubt about God’s promise and two believed. The majority ruled, and they did not enter out of fear. Doubting God’s word was the fuel for their fear. Much later when God basically forced the Jews to enter the promised land, the ten spies who had spread doubt and fear were dead and the two who believed, Joshua and Caleb, were still alive and ready to go. God spoke fondly of a different kind of spirit these two men had.
During the years in between their failure to enter the promised land and when they finally did, the Jews experienced much unnecessary torment, fear, worry and struggle instead of the blessings of the promised land God wanted them to experience. All because they did not believe God.
This brings me to another time God spoke to me. It was a dream, and God showed me “When you run away from your fears is when you get beat up.”It sounds like what happened to the Jews in those lost years in between.
When we run from our fears they do not go away, they haunt us, torment us and chase us. It is only when we make a decision, to turn around and walk right towards and through the tormenting fear, that we can have victory.
What do you fear? Can you feel it? Has it been chasing and tormenting you? Close your eyes and picture it. Now in your mind, turn around and walk toward the fear and watch it flee. Walk right through it to the promised land. Do this regularly, especially with those “what if” fears. What if the worst happens, what if this goes wrong, etc.
To live in worry and fear is a waste of your life. It is where Satan wants you, not where God wants you, and it comes from doubt and unbelief in God’s word. Even if the worst happens, God has promised to be with you, to never leave you or forsake you. He will be there, and you can handle it together, if it ever happens. Usually, the worst does not happen, and our worry and fears just steal our life away. And it the worst does happen, and you had not worried about it happening for even one-minute prior, just think of all of that blessed time you were free from torment, walking in the peace of Christ. Isn’t it much better to confront an issue while standing in the peace of Christ?
Now, I just gave you a simple exercise and a rational reason to not fear or worry, but the real lifelong cure is found in believing God loves you, you are forgiven totally and fully righteous before God in Christ. God will take care of you no matter what. Believe God’s word all out. What do you have to lose? The only thing it will cost you is your fear and worry.
The Guaranteed Solution for Fear and Worry.
To walk in the peace, Jesus left us; you must be firmly established in His love and righteousness in your thoughts. These are things that are true for you right now, but doubt will keep you from their benefits. You must study the New Covenant Jesus shed His blood for and stop mixing it with studies in the Old Covenant that cause confusion. They were never designed to be mixed. Law and grace do not mix; it is either law or grace.
But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace. Rom 11:6 ESV
Under law, sin will still have dominion in your life. Under grace you are free.
For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. Rom 6:14 ESV
The New Covenant starts after the cross, not at the beginning of the New Testament. Jesus shed blood inaugurated the New Covenant.
And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. Luke 22:20
Study the New Covenant for one year focusing on His righteousness and who you are in Christ, and it will change your entire life. You will live from faith to faith, your mind will be quiet and peaceful no matter the circumstance. Then you will understand how to correctly divide the word and read the Old Testament and the Old Covenant that was written to the Jews.
The book of Hebrews explains the New Covenant. Read it several times, study it deeply. Read Paul’s letters to the Gentiles that were all written after the cross. Review and read the many New Covenant studies on this page HERE. Start with this one HERE and commit the verses to memory.
God wants you to walk in the spirit by faith, not the flesh. He wants you to walk in the promised land in this life. He wants you to be blessed and to walk in Jesus peace that surpasses all understanding. The only way to do this is by right believing, dividing the word correctly and believing with all that is in you, what applies to you Christian. God has done everything for you. Just believe what he says and be free. It is that simple.
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Tim 1:7 ESV
