A GENESIS ACCOUNT
1: THE CREATION
In the Beginning……
The Earth was without form but this was the calm before the Storm
And the Spirit hovered over the waters.
The Creator then spoke, and the elements awoke
So teach this to your Sons and your Daughters.
Creation Day 1, the story has just begun,
God said “Let there be Light” and the light became real,
Divided from Darkness, it had the Lord’s seal.
He named the light Day and the darkness Night,
At the end of the first day all was going right.
Creation Day 2, Plenty more to do,
God said “Let there be Firmament” and the waters were parted,
Placed above and below he was just getting started.
The Firmament in the middle he then named Heaven,
It was the cake and God’s Word was the leaven.
Creation Day 3, Just wait and see,
God said “Let dry land appear” and waters were gathered,
The Continent took shape and the Oceans lathered.
God said “Let there be Grass and Herbs and Fruit yielding Trees”
And all of it was so without spot or disease.
Creation Day 4, But wait there is more,
God said “Let the Heavens be lighted for Day and for Night,
A greater and lesser is called for and right.
The greater is the Sun and it rules the day,
The Moon rules the night and so it will stay.
Let them be signs and for times and Seasons,
God knows what he’s doing and had valid reasons.
God set out the Stars in the blanket of sky,
And behold it was good, without word of a lie.
Creation day 5, The World’s coming alive,
God said “Let there be Fish aswarm in the Sea,
And the sky full of Birds flying and free.
And the Great Sea Creatures let’s not forget those,
The skies and the Sea full of life’s how it goes”.
Creation Day 6, let’s diversify the mix,
God Said “Let there be living Creatures all over the land
All Beasts and Cattle by group and by band.
And also the Creeping things according to kind”,
And behold it was good, but back to the grind.
God said “Let us make Man to be in our image”,
A keeper of all from our Holy Lineage.
He then made a Woman to help him along,
“To go forth and multiply”…That didn’t take long.
God gave them all herbs to be for their food,
All was abundant for the Adamic brood.
They tended the garden and walked with their God,
And all was provided without turning of sod.
Creation Day 7, Resting in Heaven,
Then God had a spell from the work he had done,
And he blessed this day as a sanctified one.
On this day remember That God made all things,
So look around and enjoy the blessing it brings.
2:THE GARDEN & THE FALL
So God had made Man from the dust of the ground
Dirt into flesh pound for pound.
And from Man’s rib, Woman was fashioned,
Food was abundant with no need to be rationed.
Eden was their home, God’s own garden,
They knew of no sin, so need for pardon.
God provided their food and all else they required,
Two were one flesh and marriage was sired.
Adam named all the beasts birds and plenty of fish,
And walked with God daily, everyone’s wish.
He and Eve were both naked without any shame,
No stain or blemish and absent of blame.
But there was a tree from which God said “Don’t eat”,
Knowledge of good and evil will bring down the heat.
God said “Help yourself to everything else,
That one is definitely bad for your health”!
Now the serpent heard this and told Eve “What a crock”!
God’s put you in chains so I’ll spring the lock.
Take a big bite and you’ll be just like the Lord,
She was tricked by a liar and master of fraud.
Then Adam joined in and followed his Wife,
Took a big bite and got into strife.
They hid from the Lord when he came to the garden,
For guilt and for shame and hoping for pardon.
God said “What is this thing that you have done?
Why do you hide and why do you run”?
Who said you were naked? Why the Fig leaves?
Your disobedience has made my heart grieve.
So Eve told the Lord what the Serpent had said,
That she could eat freely and not end up dead.
And God cursed the Serpent to crawl on his belly
Be forever their enemy, lowly and smelly.
Then God said to Eve, “For what you have done,
Your child birth will be painfull, your sorrow a ton.
Your desire is for Adam and he’ll rule over you,
Strife is now for your days through and through.
Then God said to Adam, “And as for you dude,
You’ll labour real hard for all of your food.
The ground will be cursed with thistles and thorns,
Your hands will be blistered, your feet will be torn.
So out they were cast, from the Garden of Eden,
Their grains to be grown, their bread to be kneadin.
And God set a Cherubim to guard Edens gate,
To keep man from making another mistake.
So Adam and eve set about their new life,
Full of ups and downs with trouble and strife.
They went forth and multiplied as originally instructed,
And so life went on and business conducted.
3:THE FLOOD
As mankind flourished, begat and begetting, sin also was rising and morals were slacking
Men’s thought were of evil continually, his wickedness growing perpetually.
The Nephalim came to check out the Women, and Giants were present though soon to be swimmin.
And the Lord shook his head as he saw all of this repented he made us, thought his actions remiss.
But Noah found Grace in the eyes of the Lord, just and upright these things he abhorred,
Though born a sinner from the house of Seth, God would save him from forthcoming death.
So God said to Noah “All flesh will soon end, all Creatures will die the Earth I shall rend,
Go make an Ark of these given dimensions, for flooding the Earth is my determined intention”.
“Two by Two the Creatures will come, so collect lots of fodder, every grain and crumb,
Food for them and for you must be stored in the Ark, for what’s soon to come is no walk in the park,
Bring into the Ark your house and your Sons, for you are the righteous my chosen ones,
From you shall come the new Generations, many tribes, peoples and Nations”.
For the next hundred years the building was done, hard work every day with no time for fun,
Though Ridiculed and laughed at they still persevered, the flood was coming, the time drawing near.
Noah warned all who came but no one would hear, too proud and sinful to show remorse or fear,
And then the day came, though life was as normal, destruction arrived, the promise made formal.
God shut up the Ark with all aboard, Noah, his Family and Animals a-hoard,
The Earth greatly heaved Volcanos erupting, the underground water burst forth a-gushing,
The protective water layer in the atmosphere, came pouring down endless causing panic and fear
For 40 days and nights this pattern continued, Till all life was extinguished man’s line dis-continued.
Imagine the panic and sheer desperation, of every tribe people and nation,
All was taken away without time to grieve, violent death ruled the time without reprieve
Sinners that chose to ignore God’s warnings, doomed to never again to see the Sun’s dawning,
The great day of Wrath had caught them all quickly, the Lord’s will was done, and that right strictly.
After a time, the flood waters waned, and slowly the Earth’s surface was revealed again,
But the old world was gone all was anew, the land was re shaped the sky was now blue.
All were released to inhabit new ground, give praise to the Lord that we’re all still around,
Now four and a half odd thousand years later, we’ve come full circle our memories no greater!
An altar was built and offerings made, thanksgiving was sung and prayers were prayed,
And God made a promise and on that he will stand, that never again will he flood the land.
And so mankind prospered and travelled far and wide, populating the nations taking sin in his stride,
And that’s the way it will be until, the Lord returns and Scripture is fulfilled.
4: BABEL
All people of Earth had one common speech, no strange words to discern or dialects to teach,
They built a big city in the land of Shinar, and people came to live there from near and far.
With bricks and mortar, wood and stone the people worked fingers down to the bone,
For one common purpose one and for all, give 100% stand or fall.
Nimrod the Hunter was a man of might there, with powerful words and warriors stare,
He said “Let’s be as one and build a high Tower, that touches the Heavens and shows our power”.
The Tower should reach up to the very sky, when he said “Jump” they all said how high
For we want a name that all will remember, lest we be scattered from here to December.
And God on his throne was a witness to all, and thought “A tower that high has a long way to fall,
The people are as one with single purpose in mind, nothing good will come of it I know we will find”
Let us go down and stir up their speech, There will be no one to follow and no one to teach,
When man gets together he causes trouble sure, his thoughts are of evil, his actions impure”.
Man scattered and drifted across the Earth’s face, all over the world they each found their place,
Tongues became tribes which grew into Nations, Village and Town became Civilisation.
The will of the Lord had been done very well, each race has its own story to tell,
So we remain separate with those of our ken, till the evil one seeks to unite us again.
5: ABRAM/ABRAHAM
In the land of the Chaldeans Abram dwelt with his wife, his Kin and his property were all part of his life,
Then one day The Lord said “Depart from your Home”, and go wherever I tell you to roam,
I’ll bless you and make from you a great Nation, all will recognise your elevated station,
I’ll bless those who bless you and curse those who curse, your enemies will faint and widely disperse,
So Abram did all The Lord had asked, though 75 years old he did all he was tasked,
He packed up his Wife, possessions and Lot, and headed to Canaan no matter what.
Then God appeared and promised Abram the land, to his many descendants the promise would stand,
Then an altar was built to remember the place, where God had appeared before his face.
Now many things happened through Abrams life, he went down to Egypt and tried to hide his wife,
He and Lot went their own way, each chose the lands in which they would stay.
He rescued Lot from foreign captivity, for he was a man of great ability,
He met with Melchizedek and gave him a tithe, God was his shield and his enemies writhed.
But Abram was sad because he had no heir, so far they were childless which caused them despair,
But God said “Fear Not your Descendants will come, from your own body I’ll give you a Son.
First he had Ishmael from the Servant Hagar, a wild man he’d be know from afar,
Then Abram became Abraham, Father of nations, God had raised him improved his station.
God promised that Sarah would bear him a Son, so Abraham laughed at what would be done,
“You will name him Isaac and I’ll covenant with him, he shall have 12 Sons and a Nation shall begin.
But Sodom and Gomorrah and their foul deeds, God’s statutes and laws they did not heed,
So God decided to destroy these places, no more would he look on their sinful faces.
Then Abraham argued on behalf of Lot, to save him from Sodom before it got hot,
Two Angels arrived and Lot was evacuated, and they kept on running till destruction abated.
But Lot’s Wife turned to see the fiery rain, and a Pillar of Salt is what she became,
The cities were punished for their dreadful sin, In the battle with evil God will always win.
So Isaac was born and grew healthy and loved, then God called to Abram from Heaven above,
Saying” Take Isaac to Mt Moriah and offer him up as a sacrifice of Fire”,
So Abraham rose and did the Lord’s will, and was about to kill Isaac when the Lord said “Be Still”,
Because of obedience he became truly blessed, everything now was at his behest.
And Isaac grew to Manhood strong, as Abrahams Son he was where he belonged,
His Son Jacob fathered Israel’s Tribes, from lowest of Shepherd to Princes and Scribes.
Because Esau had sold him his own birthright, for a bowl full of stew one hungry night,
So life carried on for Jacob’s 12 lads, until one had a dream which upset the Comrades.
6: JOSEPH
Joseph was youngest of Israel’s 12 boys, his Multi Coloured Coat was so loud it made noise,
His Brothers were jealous because he was loved most, and when his dream came they thought it a boast
Do you think that you can reign over us, keep your mouth shut and don’t cause a fuss,
But he shared it with Jacob who kept it in mind, but alas he was about to be put in a bind.
His Brothers conspired and put him in a pit, but they first took his coat which his Mother had knit,
Some Midianites came and Joseph was sold, twenty shekels of silver is the price we are told.
Now they covered their tracks by putting blood on the coat, It wasn’t from Joseph but only a Goat,
Then they went and told Jacob that Joseph was dead, a wild beast had got him is what was being said.
So Joseph was sold off into Egypt afar, became the overseer to Potiphar,
He was blessed of God and had success, he was honest of heart with nought to confess.
Potiphar’s wife though he was a bit of all right, and wanted him to lie with her one night,
But Joseph refused, he would not do this sin, and that’s when loads of trouble did begin.
The Wife said that Joseph tried to take her by force, and this was a lie, nonsense of course,
But Potiphar’s anger was deeply aroused, and into the Prison from then he was housed.
But when in the Prison much favour was his, he was put in command as a management whiz,
God remained with him, through all good and bad, granting Mercy to this Hebrew Lad.
God revealed dreams for Joseph to solve, so when Pharoah had one Joe got involved,
And because he was Godly, trustworthy and true, He became number 2 to Pharoah without fuss or coup.
So Joseph was senior throughout all the Land, to him all would bow, none would stand,
He had two Sons who would later Father tribes, saved Egypt from famine and dictated to Scribes.
Now old Jacob was suffering in the heat of the drought, and sent his Sons to check Egypt out,
They appeared before Joseph to purchase some grain, he knew who they were but kept his feelings restrained.
As originally dreamed, they bowed down low, but he would not help or let them go,
Till Benjamin was bought to verify the tale, and until then, Simeon stayed in Jail.
So off they went with their money and grain, back to their Father Jacob again,
And he did not want to let Benjamin go, for fear of losing him to an Egyptian foe
But they ended up going to purchase more food, with Benjamin in tow hoping all would be good,
So Joseph met with Benjamin again, and invited them to feast all together Amen.
Joe planted his cup in Benjamin’s bag, so it looked like he stole it, a serious gag,
Then Judah begged Joseph that Benny be spared, “He couldn’t have took it, he wouldn’t have dared”.
“Our Father will die from the loss of his Son, The memory is still fresh when he lost the last one”,
“I could not bear to see my father so grieved, it cannot be true, you must be deceived.”
So then Joseph cracked and shed many tears, he named himself their Brother not seen for years,
He drew them up close in forgiveness and love, for his life had been determined by the Great God above.
He said “Go get your flocks and all of your stuff, and move back to Goshen where life won’t be so tough,
And all Israel prospered and became a great host, this later bothered Ramses the Pharoah the most.
