ARMS
Taking a child, He set him before them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, “whoever receives one child like this in my name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me”. Mark 9:36-37 NASB
Years ago, Nancy Sinatra sang about her “legs were made for walking …… and soon they would be walking all over you”. It’s too bad she didn’t sing about her arms were made for hugging and will soon be hugging you.
Our arms have many uses. They support our hands as we perform our daily tasks. Arms extend our physical height so we can reach objects higher up on the shelf. Arms may be used to fend off an imminent danger as we hold our arms up in a defensive action. The very best use of our arms is when we us them to hug another person showing our respect and love.
It is with great joy that a parent takes their child into their arms. That joy exists whatever the age of the child. With little ones, a parent cuddles the child onto their breast. With older children, warm hugs are always welcome, except when hugs may be an embarrassment to the child (like teenagers). Adults have little if any hesitancy to take another human in their arms and hug them tightly: it is an expression of their mutual love and respect.
Throughout life we are safely held in the arms of our Creator. It is there that we find comfort from the cares of life. It is there where no ham can befall us. It is in the arms of the Lord where true joy is found.
Dear Father, please continue to hold us in your loving arms. Amen

I later remembered, after I commented on an article about Diamonds in the Rough, that the line is really "He's making diamonds, diamonds, He's making diamonds out of us..."
The revengeful lyrics in the Nancy Sinatra song is a contrast to what should be - that arms are for showing respect and love!
