Jesus, why did you go?
“Jesus, why did you go?”, probably would have been the question that the disciples would have asked when the Lord ascended to heaven after the resurrection.
Since Jesus knew this, therefore well before His departure He said this to them…
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”
John 16:7 NKJV
In anyways God was not unprepared, but promised them the blessed Holy Spirit.
Yet, why the expanse between the ascension and the receiving of the Holy Spirit?
Having enjoyed the blessedness of God’s presence with Jesus, the Lord wanted them to know how discomforting, unwelcome and powerless is life without God to such an extent that they would desperately desire for His presence.
The Infilling and the anointing of the Holy Spirit brought back the power and joy in their lives, yet now they knew the pain of God’s absence.
God often allows alienation in our life to make us understand the preciousness of His presence.
Once seeing the mighty and awesome response of souls in the Billy Graham Crusade, the press and the reporters commented, “It is nothing but the emotion appeal of the song ‘Just as I am’ that is drawing the crowds. Billy Graham and his team decided that they will not have the song sung during the altar call and thus all that could be heard after the altar call was the sound of the steps of the thousands who approached the pulpit in surrender to the Word of God, this continued for many days, until the press once again said, “Can we have the song ‘Just as I am’ back again, for the silence is killing us.?”. The singing of ‘Just as I am’ was reinstated.
What will the blessed Holy Spirit do in our life?
Jesus said…
“And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.”
John 16:8-11 NKJV
The presence of the Holy Spirit opens our hearts to understand everything and more of all the precious love of the Lord God.
King David who was filled with the Holy Spirit once succumbed to the temptation and sinned against God and do you know what his greatest fear?
In his prayer of repentance in Psalms 51, this is what David prays..
“Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.”
Psalm 51:11-12 NKJV
The loss of the presence of the Holy Spirit is the most dreadful thing in the life of a believer.
Are you filled with the Holy Spirit and enjoy His presence always? This is what the Lord says to you….
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.” Revelation 3:11 NKJV
Are you yet to receive the infilling and the anointing of the Holy Spirit?
Pray earnestly for it and the loving Lord will surely fill you with His awesome presence.
Every good thing in our life comes from God, let’s enjoy His presence in our life always.
God Bless,
Abraham
