Obey God with Gladness
What is the proof that we Love God?
Does our verbal confession and church attendance suffice to prove our love for God? Or does the outweighing of our deeds over our bad deeds prove that we really love God?
We can easily falsify our confession of faith in God, the church attendance register can be filled by even an unspiritual person, and even atheists do good deeds based on the law and obligations of morality.
What then is the ‘true assessment of love’?
Jesus said……
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
John 14:15 NKJV
Yes! If we truly love God, we listen to Him and obey His commands. We will know Him and understand the goodness in His perfect will for us.
Often we tend to do great acts of spirituality and prove our love for God (often hidden behind such acts are selfish motives for self-defense or self-promotion), however what God wants from us is ‘perfect obedience’; ‘to do what we are asked to do’.
When confronted with the enemy, one of the saints of God panicked and offered the sacrifice which the prophet of the Lord should offer; this is what God told King Saul through Samuel His prophet.
“So Samuel said:
“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.”
1 Samuel 15:22 NKJV
God has a perfect plan for every one of us, we need to understand this and be obedient to Him in everything and this obedience should come from a cheerful heart which can only happen when we really love God.
Thus, let’s know this always, “if we obey God with gladness, we truly love Him.”
God Bless
