It is Well
‘They were astounded beyond measure, saying, “He has done everything well;”’ Mark 7:37 (NRSV)
Can we declare these same words with confidence about our Saviour today? This is not a vague statement about an ethereal, impersonal God out there, but a firm proclamation regarding an intimate, loving Christ whose presence resides within. Christians know from experience, from daily encounters with our Heavenly Father, that our life is good because He attends to every facet of our life well. As we surrender and trust Christ, we witness His orchestration of all things to our benefit. Both the good and otherwise.
All is well and all manner of things shall be well. We have confidence in a great future. We know that nothing will happen to us that God in His wisdom, has not allowed, and that He cannot use for good. We are safe and secure. His ceaseless love towards us ensures that He will carefully establish all that concerns us. And in this condition, we can move from self-focus to focussing on others.
Only the man or woman grounded and steadfast in God can truly give of themselves to another without needing in return. For we are satisfied, not by others, but in Christ alone. And because of His great love that He has lavishly poured upon us, we are free to declare that all is well with our soul.
Let’s confess our anxiety, our distrusting attitudes that cause worry and fear. Seek His forgiveness and surrender to Christ who does everything well.
