TITLE: "SING UNTO THE LORD"
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 100:1, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. (KJV)"
To have a heartfelt song on your heart and sing it unto the Lord, breathe blessings into your life. Singing is a form of worship that can be personalized with the Lord. Singing helps us to develop a beautiful heartfelt fellowship in His presence; which is vocalized through our voices. Singing gives us the opportunity to show gratitude, appreciation, awe, and admiration to Him.
I have found this last statement to be true from singing at the senior citizen place where I serve. Although, I do not consider myself a songstress; I love to sing hymns. Hymns like “Amazing Grace” written by John Newton or the many wonderful songs by Fanny Crosby; such as: “Blessed Assurance.” As I open up the service with a song. I forget all about the sound of my voice and sing from the depths of my heart to the Lord. When I first started singing at the senior’s place before some amazing women. They kind of chuckled to themselves as they listened. You know a person is not a singer when seventy to ninety year olds are laughing. But, I trudged through the singing anyway. Psalm 100:1-2 encourages us to: (1) "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. (2) Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. (KJV)"
When I initially started in this ministry, if the Lord had told me singing was involved. I would not have wanted to go. However, with the encouragement of my husband and daughter (who has been faithful in this ministry with me). My husband encouraged me to keep my focus on Jesus and sing without hesitation. Allow the Lord to handle the outcome. Therefore, through obedience to the Lord and encouragement from my family, I have been blessed. And not only me, but, everyone that takes part in the service. Now, the ladies look forward to singing along with me. When we mess up on a song, we all chuckle together and try to get the next song right. Wow! The Power of the Lord is untouchable.
However, the hardest part for me in this ministry is to see the ladies that I have ministered to in these past nine years. To move into a nursing home or transition to be with the Lord (there is unspeakable joy with the last part of this statement.) I am only sad when I think about how I miss all of the happy times, we have shared together. But, the Lord constantly reminds me, because I was obedient to Him by preaching the Word of God and singing to these amazing mothers. His Word has been etched into their hearts forever. Now maybe my next ministry will be extended to the nursing home. As always, whatever the Lord says and how He leads.
The Lord loves to hear His people sing. Waiting to get to church and sing is not a requirement from Him. Just like prayer, you can sing a heartfelt song to the Lord anywhere (maybe not loud). Singing unto the Lord, breathes a spirit of peace and tranquility into the depths of your soul and spirit. Singing puts “pep into your step.” So, sing, sing, and sing. Joy to you!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for giving me the opportunity to sing and bring forth Your Word to some extraordinary women. In Your Holy name…Amen!

SALVATION PRAYER: “My friend…Are you willing to surrender your life to Jesus Christ today? The choice is yours. If you are reading this devotional and you do not have a “personal relationship” with the Lord and you would like to know how to receive this free and precious gift. God wants every human that passes through this life to know there is hope through Jesus Christ. Therefore, Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. As a result, any person who wants to be reconciled with God; can kneel or stand right where they are and repeat this prayer: “Lord, I know that I am a sinner and I have not been living the life You want me to live. I can never live this type of life without Your help and strength. I am asking You Lord, to please forgive me for my sins. Lord Jesus, I believe that You paid the penalty for my sins on the cross and You have risen again. I am opening the door of my heart for You Lord Jesus to live and take control of my life. I surrender my mind, body, soul and spirit to You as my Lord and Savior. Lord, thank You for hearing my prayer and giving me the gift of eternal life. Amen!” After repeating this prayer, you are now part of the family of God. Jesus has made a special invitation and a promise to everyone that opens the door of his or her heart to Him. He states in Revelations 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” I pray that you will dine with Jesus today!
FOR GROWTH AND STRENGTH: (1) Begin to surround yourself with other believers in Jesus Christ. (2) Read your Bible and pray every day, so that you can get to know our Heavenly Father. (3) Find a local church, where the Word of God is being taught as the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and final authority of God. Praise God for your first step towards His Kingdom!
