Family
I always wanted a spiritual mother-mentor, but on the path to finding one, I ended up first finding three spiritual father-mentors. Each one of them is an Irish prophet.
It’s not that there weren’t women willing to be my mentor; it’s just I couldn’t find one who was solid, stable, encouraging and real. I didn’t want a fluff ball or a nag. I wanted a mentor whose character and style I could admire and aspire to be more like. When I found Donna, I pursued the relationship. I saw a precious gem when I saw her.
Donna’s is my milk-chocolate mom and I am her white chocolate daughter. She is known for her wisdom nurtured by her real relationship with the Lord. Donna has a faith healing ministry where she fasts and prays for those who have cancer and she sees full healing over time. But you have to want to be healed, and believe you can be healed, for her to fast for you. Donna is a serving prophet and not one who demands a title. One of my friends calls her Diva Donna because of her bold jewelry and hats.
Through foster parenting, Donna, has guided many troubled kids. She has mentored men in jail and a handful of people from my former church. Her way of encouraging you is to tell you that God loves you. Sometimes she sets you straight as she builds you up wrapping it all up with a bow. Donna is sure to tell you the truth in the best way possible. I always walk away from her feeling good.
What I like best about Donna is that I don’t have to ask for her advice on anything. I simply call her and say, “So, what is the Lord saying to you?” and out of her conversation with the Lord about her life I find the answers to mine. There is no one quite like her.
She’s been my mentor for over 7 years. She “gets” me like very few do and she isn’t even an artist. Rather she is known for her hospitality and cooking. You can find her most often listening to Andrew Womack, Miles Monroe, Sid Roth and some complex-named pastor from Africa. She regularly preaches at MOPS (mothers of preschoolers).
As a morning watchman, Donna has been known to call me in the early hours. I am, on the other hand, the night owl watchman. She is retired and so she gets to spend a lot of time in prayer and Bible reading. We met at the Master’s Table which is a godly gourmet eating experience. We both went to River of God – known for its group participation in prophetic worship - and so you know she has a thing for intimacy with the Lord.
She hasn’t had an easy life but she has abiding faith in Jesus. Sometimes her healing ministry leads her to a week or two of blindness or some kind of odd physical pain but she presses through in prayer and gets the victory. Of all the Biblical characters, she reminds me the most of Deborah with her prophetic mothering.
Thank you, Lord for my good friend and mentor Donna Holiday.
