“I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.” Luke 16:9 NIV
So, what is Jesus saying here about worldly wealth? One thing which may be buried herein is that world wealth gained should not be in an unrighteous manner. The desire for wealth can control man and cause improper methods of obtaining it. What is more readily seen is how one desires to use the wealth gained. Is wealth used to better our lives, or those of others? Are we slaves to our earthly wealth? This is truly not desirable: to be slaves to earthly wealth. Wealth can lead to corruption. For earthly wealth not to destroy a wonderful eternity, one must use that wealth in a manner pleasing to God. Therefore, use earthly wealth to help others, to better situations for others. This will lead to being welcomed into eternal dwellings. It must be our desire to trade earthly wealth for eternal wealth, wealth that begins with us turning our life over to the care of Jesus Christ.
Do not let the way you handle earthly wealth hinder eternal wealth in Christ.
